So with these potions you pay to not play?![]()
Pretty much it boils down to people that under value the beginning of the game, and just want to rush to the new stuff. Also people with alts. I have been going around and the ones in support this are in one of those two camps.
Player
i think, considering we already have people that DON'T know rotations and their classes, this would be a VERY bad idea. perhaps if it did something like letting them skip the MSQ stuff to a point, like maybe through the ARR storyline to just before where you go into the HW. i just don't see the reason to give people levels when we're already having issues with people frustrating others because they don't know stuff. this is a quick fix and i don't see it doing much other than doing something like making long term veterans go "out" and stop playing.

Oh god no, that's a horrible idea.
There is a reason why WoW players complain about this option being a thing - because you have all these people who have no idea how their class works at max level suddenly.
It's confusing for the new players and robs them of the majority of the content the game has to offer (aaaall the lvl 50s stuff for example) and makes for a horrible groupplay experience for the not-new players.
As it is, most Newbies in our Newbie Network get past 50 in less than 2 weeks. The next expansion is no longer story-locked like HW either, so it's not like new players will have to go through ALL OF IT to experience the new endgame.
So please keep jumping potions out of FFXIV
(unless the jumping refers to automatically jumping up and down for like half a minute)

Oh goodness, PLEASE NO! Please, no no no no.
I used to play World of Warcraft and was a die hard fan. I played the game since vanilla, and I never thought I would ever quit it. As soon as they added the insta boost, i didn't like it, but I gave it a chance. I didn't last a week. My dungeon experiences were constantly ruined by boosts whom had NO idea what they were doing (obviously). I love new players, I really do.... But please, no! I quit WoW because insta boosts made it so hard to enjoy the game. It's bad enough as it is lots of people (mainly people whom have never experienced an MMORPG before) do not read their skill or listen to advice given to them. Then lets add a high level character and a whole BUNCH of spells and more challenging content to the mix... A lot of beginners (by what I've seen) don't even dodge the basic aoes. It was bad on Wow, but I feel it would be way worse on XIV. I personally feel there is more to this game challenge-wise than there was on WoW, so I feel it would be really bad.
Leveling a toon from square one allows a person to get to know the basics and slowly learn their skills without getting overwhelmed. It may seem bad now with how many people don't know what they're doing, but it would be WAY worse if there were Jumping potions. I could understand somehow letting them skip the storyline and just level without it, but do not give a way to boost levels. Let's look at it this way.... WoW introduced level boosts after how many expansions? XIV isn't even on its second expansion, why would you even introduce "jumping potions" so soon?
Sorry, I just love this game so much, and I would hate to see yet another game ruined by this kind of thing...
it's not "so bad" Low level content is a "killing joy" to do.
It's like squarex enix admit they made low level content that are bad, and offer people a way to dodge it

Why not make "Jumping Potions" only purchasable if you already have a max level character on that server?
That way people can level alts instantly without missing any content, and new players won't be forced to go through main story quests as a max level character to get to the content they actually want to play.
