    returning player help?

    hello forum ppl::

a quick backstory.. when the game was in beta phase i got invites for Ps3 and PC (two different emails) I liked it, so i continued playing on PC (bought the collector's ed). I played for a while, quit... returned a few days ago and my 7 year old saw me playing, got a hold of my controller and after a few tips, she's playing Arcanist quite well, to my surprise.

I've been digging around all day, trying to find answers to my inquires but been unlucky. Only one 1 found is that your service account is permanently attached to your PSN id.

Now, I decided to buy her a copy of the game on PS3 (which I already did). After installing in my profile (the only one with PSN+) my username is written automatically at he login and is uneditable. I checked on my mogstation and that service ID is not active. I have a 2nd service id, which I use on this laptop.

So I switch to her PSN account, fire up FFXIV and the game is asking me for a code?
I just bought the damn game on the PS3 store. Where to I find this code?
Do I also have to buy her a separate PSN+ to be able to play?

While Im at it.... is there a way to delete my unused service account for the ps3 on my mogstation?

And lastly.. is this game cross-platform? Can i play with my kid simultaneously if i pay 2 different accounts, on different systems?

forgive me for the long read. Thank you in advance.

FYI, you can edit your original post to bypass the character limit. No need to self-replying.

On topic, based on This GameFAQs board, the game is registered to your account at the time of purchase, so if you bought it on your PSN then they need to be logged into your ID to play. Based on other topics of similar inquiry, neither SE or Sony will be particularly helpful in getting the purchase transferred. You might be able to get a refund through Sony, though, if you can convince them it was an erroneous purchase.

However, should you have no issue with your child playing on your account AND you haven't linked that purchase to your personal MogStation account, then they can still play with you. But based on what you've said it sounds like you entered your MogStation account information on your account already. If you can delete the service account and unregister it, I have no idea how.

To answer your other question on whether the game is cross-platform (it is). My wife plays on PS4 (transferred from PS3 during the free upgrade) and I'm on PC. We're on 2 different accounts, as trying to log in with the same SquareEnix ID will boot whoever is currently online, if I'm not mistaken.

It sounds like you bought the game for your PSN account rather than for hers. That's why it's asking for a code when trying to start it from her account, where it doesn't have a purchase recorded. The game doesn't require PSN+, but it does require a purchase for whichever PSN account is going to be using it. (It can either be bought through PSN itself, or bought from a third party. In the later case you'd get a code to enter into PSN to register that copy to that PSN account.)

I'm not sure whether the copy bought from your PSN account can somehow be moved to hers or not. Is her PSN a sub-account of yours?

And yes, the game is cross-platform. To both be able to play together you'll want two different SE accounts, your PC copy registered to the account that you play and your daughter's PS3 copy registered to a separate account that she could play.

If you can't get the copy you bought on PSN moved over to her PSN account (and I don't know how you'd go about doing that), then could you let her play from your PSN account? It sounds like your PSN account is already tied to a Square Enix service account (probably set up back during beta), but if it's not the one you're using, would you have a problem with her using it?

Thanks guys for your prompt reply.

Yeah... that is precisely the problem. When I log into my Mog station, the first service id is the "Ps3 beta blah blah..." which I cannot get rid of by the life of me. It is INACTIVE but still... attached to my PSN acount, where I downloaded the game from.
I made a 2nd service Id to be able to play on PC when I got my collectors.

So i guess is a good thing I haven't paid the 13 bucks for her service id yet... but i really don't know how am I going to go about that game I purchased today.... :/

why is this so complicated....!!!?? AAAARRGGHH!!
