my house is in rebuilding stage. this house is very small and in unpopular area.
the roof, floors, plumbing, and gas are all broke.
my landlord fired the original crew. for not completing the job on time
the new crew comes in and makes all kinds of promises, and shows me pics.
now for next year i have to wait for them to finish the job.
should I move to a more popular, bigger house rent it for same price?
or stay in the part of my house that is not being rebuilt. but still pay same rent as others.

That's what I've been saying. What greater compensation in an MMO than to witness the actual history of the world? To be a part of it, to watch the events of future lore unfold firsthand. I dunno, to me that seems pretty cool. So we can say to new players after 2.0:
"You know how long I've been playing? There were TWO moons up there in my day." (That's assuming Dalamud does go all Majora's Mask on us)
I dunno, I'm thinking any earned through the "Year-long seasonal event" will be kind of like our exclusive "veteran" players items.
Anyone thinking we're actually entitled to anything is delusional. We got more than a year so far subscription-free, I can't think of any other company that has or would do that for one of their games. Through the worst of it we didn't pay a single cent and the game has come a long way since. With the progress that's been made, personally I feel like it's enough to ask that we pay. The game still has its issues but it's far from the unplayable mess we had a year ago.

:sigh: I really wish there was a delete thread button... I had to come back and see how immature people were getting and sadly I was right... Just like ignorant people to take things out of context and imply I mean something horrid like spying or chinese sweat shop blah blah... yea cause I totally meant that... morons... Really do I have to be so descriptive and use simple meanings to help you understand what I meant or did I read it wrong?
I'll just start with this, I'm currently in school for Computer Animation and take pleasure in observing the masters make their masterpieces. I could sit for hours and watch someone draw concept art, build models, animate, even work on the games code or under the hood sort of speak. Now that I think about it and reread it for the 11th time that maybe this was only a good idea for myself. However, I see now one truly understood what I meant but instead of politely asking for clarification most of you people went over board with communist jokes and in some cases telling me I'm creepy or willing to violate someones privacy when clearly I did not.
I get it no one cares how a game is made they just care about playing it and paying $13 to play a game is enough of a prize for a subscriber... I get it bad idea whoopy... Also people assume I hate the idea of having to pay a sub for this game right now... If I did then tell me why I've updated my billing info so they can have my money so I can keep playing?
So here in big bold italicized letters I will explain so everyone can see and hopefully understand what I was thinking during the process of creating this post.
As I poured over the schedule for 1.20 to v2.0 I drooled hard and muttered "Shit I'll pay the sub just to watch them fix the damn thing and not even play it." Why you ask? It's not everyday you get to publicly witness the rebirth of a game thats already been launched. I don't want to just play FFXIV I want to get my "front row seat tickets, sit at the side lines and cheer the team on all the while star struck and honored that I get to be apart of the development process witnessing it from ground zero." for those children who don't understand everything in the quotations or (") marks thats a metaphor look it up if you don't know what it means.
I don't care how they do it I gave some suggestions but of course they were bad and I too am very happy for the live letters from the producers. I just simply want to say "I was watching when they made this dungeon, it was crazy at one point they did this but it didn't work, yoshi-p had like 3 packs of cigarettes and I've never seen a monster get designed in from concept to fully polished 3D model that fast before. It was fucking awesome, Oh and this one time I contributed to a forum post and we all watched them create that idea from us straight from our posts alone, at one point I think he referenced my reply!" just letting my imagination get away with me of course... I just want to be immersed in to the background stuff... but you guys don't really care about that stuff so eh whatever.
The gaming industry has come a long way but it's community is turning in to trash. Seriously I think they need to consider a Gamer License to weed the ignorant "oh I'm gonna go buy madden NFL 2011, 12 and 13 and Call of duty 5, 6, 7 oh and I've played WoW for so many years I need a change hmm Rift and Star Wars: The old republic look nice. I don't think I'm gonna like Guild Wars 2 because it doesn't play like Guild Wars 1, oh lets not forget I bought street fighter 4 but now theres super SF4 and then SF vs tekken looks good I don't think I would have played it if it didn't play like SF4. I want exploitive game companies to recycle games and charge me full price for the same thing because I love their cold hard steel up my rectum... yea I'm talking about Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3... >.< a patch would have sophist I mean why did I buy a 120g Ps3 if no ones going to utilize the space... OH WAIT the company is greedy and the idiots feed them money so they keep doing it." Sorry about the rant totally off topic I've been working 12 hour work weeks I'm gone

So apply for a damn internship. Don't ask them to have a 24/7 feed so that you and thousands of others can criticize every little thing they do.
Occasional office videos on youtube I can see. But a live feed? You're calling me immature? Think below the surface. You might not take advantage of it, but do you really think the average person won't take something and run with it?
I promise you, most developers like to lead private lives. If you're in school for CA and you also happen to not mind having your future tasks in progress and possibly your face plastered across the world for all subscribers to see, more power to you. Not to mention, as others have said, that this goes against many commonly used business practice.
But let's look at the flip-side. If a service like that were ever made available, it would cost a hell of a lot more than 13-15/mo, I assure you.
In summation, have some damn empathy for the dev's personal space needs. Think about it long enough and you might just realize who is truly being ignorant and immature. Check yourself.

Already explained it's against certain laws and would be overly risky to set up live feeds in the work space. They've already shown us glimpses into their daily work during the end of Beta, however setting up a live feed, laws aside says:
"Hey, you people from other companies? Come watch our in progress programming and modeling before things are copyrighted and protected, then maybe if you're fast enough you can copyright it yourself and force us to do something new and delay an update."
That's the risk portion the law portion is there has to be a certain amount of privacy given to employees and having cameras everywhere violates that. This is why I said it's not that it was never a thought of idea, because for example in our development studio we have webcams for skype communication, it's the fact that showing people outside of the company isn't always wise, and why companies like Bungie for example will show you in Vdocs after the fact so nothing can be in essence, stolen.
If you want a delete thread button..calling people morons will definitely close this thread quickly >.>Just like ignorant people to take things out of context and imply I mean something horrid like spying or chinese sweat shop blah blah... yea cause I totally meant that... morons...

I doubt you'll be back to read any more after how you've been treated in this thread... (I wish I could send this in a private message so I'd know you'd see it..)
I can't help but shake my head in disgust at how so many people on these forums turn to personal attacks rather than simply posting disagreement with someone's idea.
I wasn't quite sure what to think of the OP, but after this post it's quite obvious to me that you were just looking at things in a way most people can't understand. I understand that you just thought it would be neat to see behind-the-scenes things.
I don't believe you to be selfish, greedy, ignorant, immature, or any of the other harsh words people have thrown at you. Some things said were enough to make a sensitive person break down in tears. There's no reason to be attacked like that for suggesting an idea. Whether it be realistic or not.
I hope that all these bad apples rolling around on these forums haven't spoiled the forums for you, though I will say they are plentiful. :\ I'm sorry for your bad experience here. I hope that in the future people think before they type.
