The topic has morphed a bit from the original post, but the intent of the title of the thread was to illustrate how divisive an encounter with a single difficulty mode can be. If you take the entire thread conversation into a single frame, you can really see just how divided people have become regarding the various topics of discussion at play here.

And I don't see why you can't still celebrate fighting Ifrit on Hyper Mode when it's set to the highest difficulty, even if it has different difficulty modes. I have already specifically illustrated and addressed that point of contention already and you people keep missing it. The ability to beat ifrit on the highest difficulty mode is definitely something to celebrate.

Beating IFrit on two-star difficulty mode is not cause for celebration, apart from saying, "Okay, I think I can take on three-star Ifrit now!"
Congratulations! You just killed a nerfed ifrit that was 10k less hp and does 500 less damage on every attack! Now you can try to kill the 8k less hp ifrit that hits for 400 less damage on every attack!

Or you could just stop blaming everything but your own skill and kill ifrit at the difficulty the developers wanted and designed. Seriously, scaling fights would be a huge waste of time and effort for devs. I don't think any of them could read this topic and take anything said seriously.

I was more or less suggesting that a lower difficulty version of Hyper be with the SAME HP, same defense stats. The only difference would be the damage output... jesus christ, this is the THIRD time I've had to say this.

Me neither. But I also do not approve of incompetence by design.

None of ifrits moves can one shot you if you are at full HP, you really just need to suck it up, play defensively, heal yourself, and stop crying for a mode that does less damage.

And this seems to be your solution.

You want the same fight with less damage? Pointless.

When you have your healers fully dedicated to healing the tank from start to finish, and you only have Sacrifice II and Cure II as opposed to the Tier 3 heals, you can't really recover half of your health in short order, even with Bloodbath. I've tried. You have to disengage from the fight for a minute or two to even do that successfully - and that costs the team quite a bit.

again one mans hard is anothers easy :P, i think it took me close to an hour to beat emerald weapon. and that was with 2 master knights of the round and a master mimic and taking off 9999. i needed phoenix with my final move materia. this was no an easy battle. although i had the deck stacked heavily in my favour. but to your point this is an rpg. stats and grind are what this game are based on, there what any rpg be that MMO or single player are based on

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

Which also means you (or your healers) are doing it wrong.

Also, healerS? Plural? All on the tank? Really....doing it wrong. One healer can keep the tank alive AND help maintain party HP. More than one healer and it's EASY.
