i guess this is what the pt that wiped did:

Spam ws without timing/watch ifrit's TP attack pattern
Use ability just when is about to use TP move
Run up to him and continue attack after he just landed < NO NO NO!
Tank didnt position him properly after he landed
DD curing themselves due to low HP when is about to TP (low HP is better than death)
Taking Sear damage < lot of people dont know abt this, i know didnt my early few runs)
Not knowing "safe spots" during his Jump frenzy
Using WS/Ability just before he is about to Jump and get locked and get owned by charge
DD stacking on top of each other
DD running toward mages to avoid cracks

    and more blah blah blah....

i was doing alot of mistake few early runs but more you do more you learn.

This shit was killing me before I was made aware of it. Then I was told that LNC could stand at max range and avoid it completely, which is awesome for LNC, but I imagine other melee classes get screwed having to move in and out all the time.

What's wrong with this? Does his threat reset after each jump? Or is this about Sear?

DD stacking on top of each other
    What's wrong with stacking?

I've yet to stumble upon a wiki that actually has fight strategies, or up-to-date, useful information at all. It sucks when you're exploring or some shit, and the only way you can figure out how the aggressive mob that can one-shot you on a chocobo is triggered is via a leap of faith by running behind them and hoping they're not sound-triggered (btw, hippogryphs are totally sound-triggered).

Lnc and archer have an advantage by being about to be out of seer range.

After it lands following a jump it 100% of the time does another Non-jp attack. Usally Plums or Eruption. Eruption will kill you if you go to attack it or start spamming cures and it targets you. So after a jump you never never want to do anything until you see what ifrit is going to do. Doing other wise will result in you getting more or less 1 shotted.

Putting all DDs or Mages together is because of the human error factor. If mages have to emergency cure the rank and they are targeted by Eruption, if they are together they are all dead. All your mages dead = extremly high chance of wipe. Same with DDS all your dds die you screw yourself because it will wipe the mages mp dry. Also separating everyone makes ifrit only target 1 area, leaving the other areas free to dmg/cure. So putting everyone in 1 place is a bad thing.

That's just common sense, though. Just run up and white-swing him until he does something.

What do you mean only targets one area? When he lights up, he starts throwing out 3 eruptions. You saying that they'll all follow the same person or something?

I'd like an answer to this. As far as I can tell, most of them tend to be random.

Because not all content should be available to each and everything. Why can't we go run up to the final boss and smack him over the head with a frying pan? Why can't I ride a chocobo as soon as I get my character? Why must I start from level one and not from level fifty? Why must we enter Darkhold as a party? Why why why?

Everything has a price; restrictions is one that is necessary for certain content. Else, there's nothing to look forward to ahead of the next corner when you can do everything straight away like that. Disregarding rewards and penalties, the sense of achievement will certainly go from low to non-existent in this current game. Are you prepared for the complaining that will arise because of that?

Sure, it has short term benefits. But how about long-term? Would it really still entice long-playing persons to keep with a game that they can do at any level, any time, any where? Would it really give them the sense of accomplishment that entices them to stay? Options are nice, but too many cooks spoil the broth; there's a limit to how diverse something can be.

This made me think of Sephiroth getting whacked by Aerith with a frying pan.

...For some obscure reason, I can picture that scene very vividly....Point is, though, that our Culinarians are barely able to fry a live marmot; if they tried IFRIT, they'll get fried instead. It's a hyperbole, yes, but really, having more options is necessarily a good thing.
