If encounters like these are to be scaled, you should get no reward below the default setting, because why do it on any higher difficulty if you can get reward for two shotting him?

I was just going to keep reading because I'm bored at work, but I just had to answer to this. If your LS can't get him down below 50% and it seems you guys have been doing the fight a long time....Something is very very very wrong here. This is not elitism, this is not bad game design...This is a lack of situational awareness. He doesn't even do anything crazy up to that point. You need to have situational awareness that is all.I do not approve of elitism.
I have a reasonable party, and they have done well in other content. It's just puzzling to see that we, all of us at rank 50 with our main classes, simply cannot seem to get Ifrit past 50%, and even by then one of us has been knocked out at least once.
And yes, we have been using the strategies offered by linkshells such as BlueGartr, and have viewed the videos, etc. We're being screwed over by technical and human limitations.
HINT: The screen goes a little dark every time hes about to WS, that's your hint to stop doing what you are doing and get ready to move from an incoming effect.
Seriously we got him below 50% on our very first try.
And to add, this is end game content, it's not supposed to be easy.
SE, don't cater to bad players please.
Admittance is the first step to recovery.
Bad players need to recognize that they are bad and work on it.
The fight is fine (aside from latency issues.)

I heal during Ifrit in [ITEM=8032409]Solar Summer Halter[/ITEM] [ITEM=8051309]Solar Summer Tanga [/ITEM] and [ITEM=8013302]Unripened Pumpkin Head[/ITEM] That's how easy the fight is now lol
Do you know how much it wouldn't matter what DPS class you went as if "sear" was not involved? In all fairness it isn't bad really, just make sure to heal yourself if you are not Lancer and time the sears right.
While the fight is difficult. That is a "good" thing. If you didn't read Yoshida's previous letters, he stated he wanted the best current gear to be "hard" to get. When newer items come in, he wants the previous "hard" items to be easier to obtain. Sort of like how WoW works in regards to raid gear.
While animation lag is a big issue, no argument against that. Honestly, everything else is fine. It is a fun, engaging fight that takes communication and lots of practice to win.
With how things are now, do you seriously want to get your Ifrit weapons that quickly when the next batch of content isn't till 2 months away? While we do have SH's, Ifrit is the main form of entertainment till 1.20 comes in. I would actually not be happy if I got my weapons in a day or two then wait two months. I want to die to him, learn from my mistakes, and improve till to the point my linkshell can take him down with ease, which is where we are at now. It took us pretty much an entire month to finally get a solid formation to take him down. Now that we have done this, the next step is to get us geared up with Ifrit weapons and get ready for 1.20, where Moogle is even harder.
If you want hard, which people have been begging for since day 1, do Ifrit and don't complain (unless you need to shout about animation lag, we all do!), or either accept you can't do the hardest content currently in the game and wait till 1.20 where it will probably be easier.
All MMO's go by this concept.

Little known fact. Melee can heal themselves!
It's too bad,
Most melee cant be bothered to cast a cure on themselves. I laugh when they can't beat Ifrit because they are too lazy/proud.
Cure 2, level 20 CON.
Second Wind, some stupidly low level PUG.
Combine them
Negate Seer damage
???
Beat Ifrit
