The only time I can feel 100% safe that no one will try to bring in a PLVL is when I'm lucky enough to have people all from my linkshell in the party. If just 5/8 in the party are from my linkshell, we stand a better chance if one of those pickups insist on a plvl.

That person can leave, we can find a replacement. Even if all 3 random pickups leave for the PLVL, we can still find replacements.

But if it's 7/8 - 6/8 random pickups, more often than not the party is split apart when someone brings it up. It is becoming harder and harder for me to level with a group legitimately. I was already long-winded in the OP and won't re-explain this.

The point is that the dude is saying plevels come to his parties uninvited, and kill the fun of the game. I would not be surprised if this was happening. If it happens it sucks. Perfectly understandable.

That said i dont really mind pleveling that much when its planned. Sometimes you just dont have the people, or you just need some skills. If they killed pleveling i would probably not cry, but honestly i have no problem using itfor certain things now.

I know what he is saying. Point is he stayed in the party. this does not happen often so leave the party if you hate it.

he made the party, a non PLevel party. Some one else changed the deal. that shouldnt be the case. It would be different if he made, or joined a plevel party but that is not the case.

If someone joins a non plevel party, they shouldnt force it to be a plevel party. All you need in a plevel party for max effeciency is a tank, maybe a couple bodies to get links, but since they reduce the overall exp, it may not even be better depending on the camp.

point is, dont hijack someones else party for your own benefit, if you want to leave, leave, but taking half the party with you and starting an argument is a Jackass move.

other problem is will normal parties die out? i really dont know, but i dont think this happens all the time, though i really cant say, i havent pugged much recently.

I don't mind it when someone states their opinion, but I do mind it when someone continually misinterprets what I write.

Reread the OP. I didn't stay in the party.

People are amazing. Making me wonder if they even read the situation that the OP was explaining so elaborately. Making me wonder if you even try to understand what we're saying.

Do you hear yourself? You honestly think that is a reasonable stance to take and not just you overreacting to the fact that some people occasionally power level.

The OP was saying he was forced to leave the party, or got his party members stolen from him because someone brought a PL in, in the middle of normal EXP party.

You guys think it's fair to spend an hour or so trying to put together a party, and then in the middle of it, party had to break into halves or disband because someone suddenly remembers that they wanted a PL and decides to bring in a PL? Now look who's killing the fun of other people.

I am not saying they should not be allowed to EXP in a normal party, but at least they should have enough manner not to ruin someone else's party by suddenly bringing in a PL.

If you want to have a PL, fine. Just go and stay with your PL. If you want to join a normal EXP party, that's fine too. But joining a normal EXP party without any notification in advance that "I am bringing in a PL" and then by doing so, you end up crippling the party, making it break, or causing it to disband IS NOT FINE.

Some people say they want to skip to the fun parts.

But then, they get to endgame, and find every single way to skip everything they can.

Darkhold is ran by training mobs most of the way, just running through here and there. Of course, you can't avoid that if you want that 25 min. chest.

And then for the boss fights, we'll find every shortcut possibles to avoid any efforts and remove every risk into the fight.

So where is that fun part that you're skipping to? Wearing those shinies is the fun part?

I'd comment on Ifrit, sentinel, etc. but really, I haven't been to that fight yet, haven't had the time for it. So I won't.

But it just feels like overall people are skipping the "boring" parts to get to the fun, that really isn't there, if even at endgame, you're skipping most of the content. A lot of people seems (keyword is seems) to be trying to get to the end of a game with no end. That's not hardcore, that's not skills, that's mindlessly pushing through. Like a A miquote chasing her tail...

How exactly does one "steal your party members". I'm asking because I have put together a great number of EXP parties over the years. An EXP party is:
    • Generally a pick up group.
    • It is maybe rude to leave it unannounced.
    • It is rude to leech if you are expected to be pulling your weight.
    • It is not an agreement to do whatever the Party Leader says because it is his/her party.
    • People can leave parties if they don't like what the leader is doing.
    • Party leaders can remove people they don't want in their party, and then recruit others to replace them.

People joined your random EXP party, probably from a shout in Ul'dah, they didn't elect you their moral compass.

I like this response. Also, to OP, being on Selbina, you must have a really bad knack for picking parties. I have but once had a PL crammed down my throat. I expressed discontent, left, and found another party. It took all of 15 mins. I think you are over-stating your PL experiences.
