1. New 3.3 Crafted gear will be shared across all classes, while the Red Scrip gear will be class specific.

2. New 3.3 Crafted gear will have ALL slots released (Accessories included), while Red Scrip Accessories and Secondary tools will not be available until 3.4.

3. Suggests that the new Best Tribe story quests will reward Tier IV materia and not Tier V as the update thread states, though this could be a typo.

There are two types of equipment, one which can be crafted and shared across all classes, and another which can be exchanged with red scrips and are class-specific. The item level for the red scrips version is set higher; however, players may utilize advanced materia melding on the crafted pieces, which can prove advantageous in the long run. In Patch 3.3, we'll introduce every piece of equipment for the crafted version, but for red scrips version, the secondary tool, belt, and accessories will be added later in Patch 3.4.

We've also made adjustments to how frequently gathering and crafting materia can be obtained. Players will be able to collect grade IV materia at a much quicker rate. Players will also be able to collect grade IV materia by completing the beast tribe story quests introduced in Patch 3.3, and we have also prepared other avenues to collect them.

I'm gonna keep my hopes up on the moogle beast tribe providing a way to obtain both grade IV and V crafting materia:

Grade IV ones in a similar way to the old beast tribes, with a choice of a random crafting/gathering IV materia when completing a moogle daily
Grade V ones bought with a currency obtained as rewards from dailies, similar to the Vanu Whitebone and Black Copper Gil.

Wow so all new crafted sets, I just made i170 set for my ALC. :3 So does that mean we have to do favors again? Maybe we will need new dysnth mats! D:

If I'd have to take a guess, the moogles will probably have some material needed for the DoH/L sets, similar to how the Ixali had the Ehcatl Sealants.
Hope they don't use the favor mats though, never really liked gathering those.

Materia-wise, a quote from a recently translated famitsu interview:

Will there be any added benefit for adventurers who have already reached level 60 on all crafts?
Yoshida: As you progress through the story quests by completing the daily quests, tier V crafting materia will be available as set rewards.

I am not currently at 3-star (decently close on my WVR and a flat 2-star on everything else), so I won't be immediately able to start making the new crafted set. When I found out there was also going to be a new Red Scrip set, I thought maybe I can get a few of those pieces to up my stats and then use them to craft the new crafted set. Now, we're finding out it's not shared, but class specific, so that is fairly upsetting.

Red scrip will be class specific? I guess they really don't want to ease the current barrier to entry then.
I though that, with this patch, I'd be able to finally get my hands on crafting by using the Moogle quests to get some exp boost, while getting red scrip stuff for all my classes as I did with the i70 token set from Mor Dhona. I never wanted to get the i60 crafted one since the HQ and overmelds were too much for me, but I was happy to still get to make my small place in crafting with the i70 gear.

Well, too bad. It'll probably take months to grab complete red scrip sets and the craftable gear will be completly out of reach from be (both from crafting and the market boards).

I really have the feeling that if you don't jump in as soon as the crafting gates opens, they'll be forever closed.
It's so frustrating just to think about it, so I really don't know why I should bother about crafting at all at this point. It feels like I'm so late I'll never be able to catch up... almost a year after the release of Heavensward.

It actually wouldn't make sense if you can only get a shared set with scrips because then there would be no point of scrips. This makes it so the scrip system remains relevant and the people who don't want to gather or anything for their set don't take the easy way out with one set and stop scrip gathering all together.

A shared set from red scrips means it'll remain relevant for much shorter, since people will be much faster at finishing a set.

Yoshi also noted that the crafted set will be "quite tough" to make, so perhaps the amount of effort required to make a shared set will balance things out.
