Friends of mine, new to the game, becoming discouraged by STORY QUESTS

Your argument would work if this wasn't an MMO, but it is an MMO, and most people who are fans of the genre as a whole play MMOs for endgame group content, not for leveling or single player storyline.

It's not opinion to say 90% of the story is filler, because if you think it isn't...then maybe you just don't know what 'filler' is.

Also: All my friends play this game, not some other MMO, and I'm not going to make them all go to some other MMO just to raid when we can accomplish it just fine in this game, that's why. Honestly, suggesting people 'go play something else if you want to raid' is a terrible way to look at it, and is never something you should suggest if you want a game like this to thrive. So your point is moot.

So skip the parts you think are pointless and go on with your life? How is this a hard concept? Get that free exp and keep going or stop altogether. A game doesn't have to mangle itself to please everybody in existence just because people want an easy button to get to the end. It's been doing just fine with the subscription business this whole time having a mandatory story. People seem content with spamming the skip button if they continue paying that sub fee. If they're not ok with that, then they must be masochists by not cancelling their sub immediately.

You really should go play something else if you're not enjoying it. You said you liked some of the story, but since you're speaking on the subject, I'm talking to you specifically as well as the group you're advocating for. We're being real here. I'm not going to lighten my tone because I don't believe in being fake with people in discussions.

This is an MMO that has been so watered down in order to try and snag as many people as possible. I hate the story and have skipped most of it. I'm sure there are plenty of others like me who find enjoyment elsewhere. I have never played another MMO where all the new content is locked behind the full MSQ. Sure, throw a few quests in there to unlock certain items, but holding the new content ransom is a bad tactic.

I really enjoyed the story! But, even I got a little burnt out because MSQ between 2.0 and 2.55 it's a lot of boring fetch quests for very low quality cutscenes and little voice acting, only two story dungeons and the occasional trial?

Is there anything against adding an option like "watch a story recap and ship these quests but lose all the experience and what drops," or play as intended? Give people who want to rush to endgame their choice, but obviously they don't recieve the rewards associated...

Aaand for the record. After ur friends reach to lv 60. The real pain begins. And its farming ur "end game" gear. It takes 7 weeks to get the ilv 230 wpn. And after that it might take months and weeks to ger ur gears to a certain ilv that requires u to raid. Theres no point rushing

In essence, they are already doing the end game stuff. For 2 years all we had was 1-50 with primals and coils, with the occasional patch and story update. You're already there~

No other MMO does it, you are correct. But I like the content staying locked behind MSQ. That is why I am playing FFXIV. If you do not like it I don't understand why you are here. I don't like open world PvP at all. When my friends asked me to play Archeage, I didn't buy the game, play and get ganked, then go on their forums and demand they remove something that's integral to the game. I declined to play at all because I'm not interested in paying money for things I don't enjoy.

There is a massive difference between having options while playing a game, and being forced to do specific content in order to get to the items you want to do in game. I'm always shocked by the amount of people who don't seem to realize people enjoy different things in games.

Speaking of Archeage - I loved the game. And I hate PvP. CRAZY I KNOW! But I found other things that I absolutely loved, like farming, and raising mounts, making music, and just exploring the beautiful world. But with the logic in this thread, I had absolutely no business playing the game since I hate PvP, which is the core of the game. MMOs have to be diverse since their players are diverse.
