    Ninja pvp help.

    Hi All,

Recently started pvp as my Ninja and loving it but struggling to find any information on Ninja pvp stats/play.

I was wondering if anyone could lend any advice to direction so I can start becoming better and relying less on others performance.

I am starting to get the low gear and am now saving for the end set but again I am really unsure on what to socket the gear with stat wise and other need to know info.

Any help would be great or any sites I can swat up on.

    Regards

    Sound

Without sounding like a complete noob both, I take it they are different stat setups for each one.

Is there a site where I can read up on this stuff or that may help me understand my strategies in them. Gear aside I feel I need to up my game and learn about how to handle my class and am really struggling to find any right or wrong answers.

Thanks for the help so far as well.

I can answer partly for what is about general melee gameplay, for the specificities of NIN someone who actually mains that should answer.

First don't join PVP without having a good PVE understanding of your class. For NIN I suppose that means know how to burst properly in the trick attack debuff window, and that includes knowing a PVE burst and including the PVP skills to it. You can go practice that in Wolves Den Pier on the training dummies on the ship. Read all your skills tooltips, all of them. Some skills that have no use in PVE are good for PVP (hyoton). Use your DoTs, they are NIN's most potent attacks (aside from SA/TA). Again someone who mains NIN should talk more about that but you might want to skip DoTs when you burst, and apply them when you don't have much CDs left.
The strength of NIN is probably to be able to shut down BLMs and healers for a while since they have access to 2 stuns and a long silence.
For what is about PVP points allotment you probably want (when you are lvl 50) to max Fetter Ward, Weapon Throw 1, Purify 1, Overwhelm 1 2 3, Ill Wind 1 2 3, Recouperate 1 2 and Enhanced Dexterity 1 2 3. You can change the points depending on whether you're doing Feast or Frontlines, but for NIN I fail to see any use to allot more points to the PVP skills I didn't mention.
Know when to use Blood for Blood and when not to, if you aren't the target being focused use it but turn it off (right click the icon or make a macro /statusoff) as soon as you start getting attacked, some classes with high burst like BRD and MCH will destroy you in no time if they catch you with Blood for Blood on.
Unless you are sure you won't need it, Fetter Ward > stun > LB is a good thing to do.
Most pvp modes (or the only ones worth being mentionned) sync your gear at 150. You only need about 390 accuracy in PVP, so start gathering any gear above 150 (dungeons/VA/etc) that allow you to drop as much accuracy and skillspeed as you can. Focus strictly on crit first, and det next.

Some minor differences between Frontlines and Feast NIN. In FL, it's not really worth it to get dots up on targets other than a tank or healer as most dps will just explode due to the sheer number of people and chaos going on. Feast is different, especially once NINs get the 20% healing debuff with Shadowfang in PvP.

As Noeru mentioned, the first step is to be familiar with your class in PvE, this doesn't mean clear savage or anything, practicing on the Stone, Sky, Sea would be a good place to start. If you can clear some of the harder dummies then you have a pretty good understanding of your abilities. After you need to focus on your PvP abilities. NINs recently got Fetterward and it's extremely helpful when playing against MCH that try to burst you should you notice it.

Learn your Mudras: Hyoton is your BFF.

Finally, yes, be EXTREMELY careful with Blood for Blood. I macro it to my Hide to remove it when I am getting heavily focused.

Sorry only just realised my profile is still my warrior but my main is now Ninja, I am currently raiding Savage and have played pvp a bit but again am really unsure on how to become a better pvper. Thank you for the advice it will be noted and used.

I always keep my dots up but do struggle to always land the mark on trick shot as the target can often swing around at the last moment as I strike.

And unsure if stat maxing for pvp is the same as pve.

    Thanks for the help guys.

It's been a while since I've gone into PVP, but when I was, I was almost always in the top 3 for damage dealers, so I feel like I was at least doing decently xD

When waiting on CD's for bursting, I would usually harrass with DoTs on anyone nearby. Don't expect to gets kills with it, but it keeps their health going down and if someone gets targetted, you might get the lucky kill due to your DoT. Fuma shuriken is great long range attack when your chasing a fleeing target with low hp (but the worst when they get healed RIGHT before it lands T_T). I used dancing edge more often than aeolian edge, simply because the positional was difficult to get when in the heat of the battle (and it has a higher attack potency if you aren't hitting the positionals, plus the debuff is useful).

Hyoton actually becomes useful in PVP. Took me a while to get used to using it as it's pretty much ignored in PvE. Doton can be very useful if you use it as a chokehold or trap since it heavies. I liked to use Shukuchi to pop ahead if I saw an enemy retreating (and I wasn't being targetted) and placing down a quick doton in his path.

Also, don't forget about Hide ^^ Great for sneaking behind and harassing a healer at the beginning of a fight. Just be careful of AoE from mages, it will still hit you and you'll no longer be hidden. But great way to get off a trick attack right off the bat on an unsuspecting victim. Use your stuns/binds wisely, you have 3 in total you can use on a player. The rest is pretty much dependent on your team. Your solo burst isn't the highest, but can definitely down someone if they're not paying attention. As others have said though, be careful of blood for blood. Those PvP'ers can smell the blood in the air ._. (and it'll be yours if you don't pop it back off in time).

But I will say, I haven't PvP'd in a few months. I know there's been updates to PvP play and I don't know how many have affected the NIN. Be nice to see a main NIN PvP input ^^
