If you really want to dedicate yourself to efficient healing, MP management, and are willing to memorize the boss fights then WHM.

If you want snooze-mode healing then Scholar.

If you want fancy spell animations then ACH.

One thing to say : complete opposite XD

Whm tend to burn all mana for each pack (especially on DPS)
Sch is great healing, great aoe DPS and almost nothing to heal thanks to fairy management
AST is flashy and destructive spell, rapid healing, huge mana regen and bonus card

I think we're saying the same thing, just different perspectives.

WHM uses a ton of MP (not that I would judge much of anything on trash packs, most tanks can use CD's thru the dungeon on those and get by)
SCH has fairy to do all the healing for you
AST is flashy...

I don't tank often but when I do my preferred healer is "anyone I know and 'trust' ".
I don't like tanking without a friend healing... doesn't matter what job. I know what they're going to do so I can act accordingly (and vice versa, they know how I tank).

If that is impossible... I guess SCH since I know at least Lily will keep me alive.

I was curious of the tank's preference in healer. I'm aware of the differences in each healer. I have Whm and Sch at 60 and working on Ast (poops and giggles).

Can't say I've ever given it a second thought as a tank, besides giving WHM's a little more time between pulls to recoup MP.

I've been playing all wrong I guess. As the scholar I am always watching my main healer's casts and the party's HP on top of making sure Lilly is spamming embrace every cast/appropriate cool downs are in use for her. If someone dies to raw damage after the main heal is using the appropriate heal (single vs aoe) it's the off heal scholars fault. Not gonna let that happen. On top of this I'm gonna push my dps to make up for the 85% of the time that I'm not needed (even though Lilly does a considerable amount of healing overtime with rouse and that I can mitigate tank busters/massive aoe with virus.)

Congrats on pushing your DPS. I'm sure you're an asset to your static. But we're blurring the lines here. I say SCH isn't needed much for healing because of the fairy, then you disagree but admit you're not required to heal 85% of the time. I mean... come on man. If you're only required to heal 15% of the time then I'd say that's a lot less intensive healing. I don't think anyone is expecting you drop a bomb DPS-wise, but good for you for pushing it anyway.

It's not the fact that you're not healing, it's that you should always be watching for when your main healer cannot. So you are actively watching for when heals are needed, gauging if the main healer can handle it. AOE incoming in 1.5 seconds, main heal is just now starting Medica, cs off, idom. xD

DPSing SCH, wish I remembered the name of 1 because I would definitely plug them (or ask for a POV video-capture to learn from them).

I remember feeling embarrassed because they were either clipping me or beating me on EncDPS in Fractal Cont (even Trash O_o). Not all DPSing SCHs are the same I guess, or else I've just not been getting out enough. This was before the VIT/STR adjustment and I think they were pulling ~500+ EncDPS on trash, bosses even higher..

What do SCHs usually hit on charts, or are proud of (Dungeons)? Each dungeon and party config changes the expectation I suppose.

Is this exceptional (certainly felt so), even possible, was ACT broken? How does SCH get 500+ on trash? I can't imagine the trash lived long enough to warrant a Bio 2 refresh.

I switched from WHM to SCH as my healer job after that instance, hope to be that impressive someday.
