3.4 has new grand company rank so I would imagine it has something to do with that.
3.5 obviously the real beginning of the new storyline with 3.6 leading up to the next expansion.

That was before the huge delay of 3.1, though. Considering that we'll get 3.5 in December at the earliest, I wouldn't expect 4.0 any sooner than April or May 2017.
Well, good morning everyone. I forgot I wrote this thread.
3.3 Ends the Dragonsong war. 3.4 and 3.5 are still "3.X" patches. Therefore, I think it's only right to keep calling it Heavensward.
I doubt we'll have a 3.6 patch. We didn't have a 2.6, rather a 2.55. If anything, we'll see a 3.55, but I personally doubt that. A 3.6 patch carries the implications of i300 gear, another 4 raid bosses, both normal and savage, and a new trial. I think that's too much for SE to handle going into 4.0

A lot of predictions in this thread are safe bets. The timetable and item progression are no real secret, it's a recurring pattern.
Another 3-step jump at patch 3.4 later this year with the addition of item level 250, 260 and 270 gear. Savage weapon 275, with anima weapons eventually catching up before the expansion.
Expansion will be outlined at the fan fest events, then launch in Summer 2017. Despite ambitions to reduce the time between each expansion, the 3.x cycle has shown no signs of acceleration. I think there was a S-E financial report that said no expansion before April 2017.
