Only problem with that is hasn't square enix already stated somewhere that they want an expansion every year starting after 3.0? If I'm right then that means there will be an expansion some time later this year or in the beginning of next year.

Yes, they like to have an expansion every year. But I dont think its possible, which is not a bad thing. I mean, it took about 6 months between the last patch (X.5) and the next big expansion. Having an expansion every year (with the same amount of new content) means to have only 1 patch for each expansion. At the moment we have 5 patches per expansion, with a new expansion every 2 years. I think, we are fine with that.
So. They stated, they want to have an expansion every year. But thats not the right path and absolutely not a good idea.

i think they will rush the expansions through til 5.0 then start to slow down to be honest once theres a couple of expansions then will focus on additional features/content instead of new areas to exploreYes, they like to have an expansion every year. That was before the huge delay of 3.1, though. Considering that we'll get 3.5 in December at the earliest, I wouldn't expect 4.0 any sooner than April or May 2017.
