Estinien's Fate? [SPOILER discussion]

No on topic:

So with 3.3 closing in and the finale of the Dragonsong war is near do you support for Estinien to live or die?

On one side Alphinaud acts as the Save Estinien character as he is tired of having everyone we care about die thus aims to save. We don't know how we can save Estinien but Alphinaud is the only NPC who believes Estinien can still be saved.

On the other we have Aymeric being the one who is willing the kill Estinien as he has chosen that one life of a friend is not worth the cost of the many that may die if he is not killed.

As for the WoL it up to the player how their character feels about saving Estinien. However, at the same time

As for my WoL I am with Alphinaud on this as I am also tired of all the characters we care about dying. We need to put a end to the Dragonsong war death cycle.

I have a feeling we'll end up saving Estinien in the end, but at an uncertain cost. Like say, having the Warriors of Darkness swoop in and take both eyes for themselves for a future plot. We'd end the war and save a friend, but who knows just how badly we may have screwed up for the future.

I think we will save him. As to how, well we have a little thing called the Echo which allows us to reach into the souls of others. I suspect that will play a part.

To be fair to Alphinaud, what he says is wether we succeed or not, we should at least try rather giving up and assuming its a lost cause. Note this is different to being naïve. If he was naïve he would say 'we will succeed' or 'we must succeed'. He is saying that just because its hard and you don't know a way, that's not an excuse to give up on friends and allies. There is a fine line between accepting that their may be losses and surrendering to the assumption that you will lose people.

I am pretty sure we will save him but like someone stated, with a cost.. Unsure what will it be exactly but I hope it's going to be good. Somehow though, I amost wish we don't. I know I am mean.

I don't know. I think actually being able to save one of the WoL's allies for once would be a nice change of pace. Its not like we haven't suffered losses.

Oh I know, it would be nice to save him but to what cost? Is he worth so many people's lives though?

If he weren't Aymeric's close friend I'd say just throw Estinien in the trash

For a twist, maybe it'll be Aymeric that dies/ sacrifices himself to banish Nidhogg from Estinien and it'll be Estinien that'll take Aymeric's place as the Lord Commander of Ishgard.

I don't like how I have to find a way to save him.

Why don't just kill him along with Nidhogg?

The game should give us more options or more tragic story.

And Alphinaud should be killed long time ago.
