    50-51 crafting...?

So, I just hit level 50 in all of the crafting classes. Up to this point, everything's been fairly manageable, if not easy, but now I'm barely able to even create level 50+ recipes, requiring up to eight synthesis actions to even complete NQ progress.

What's more, it seems like some of the bottom-tier collectable items actually require 1-star level 50 materials. I don't understand how to proceed from this point, since I don't want to expend large quantities of materia at this stage or go through the ARR endgame grinds for gear I'll soon discard, but the XP totals required to level via sheer grinding seem completely insurmountable. Right now, my craftsmanship, control and CP on most classes are all around ~300, but it seems as if I need them at 350-400 to even stand a chance.

Since I'm completely out of leve allowances, the most efficient option would seem to be crafting collectables using only HQ materials... but this can't be intentional, can it?

Edit: on further inspection, it seems like Heavensward crafts suddenly become massively easier on hitting 51? Is there some kind of crafter level/recipe level mechanic that's dramatically reducing the efficacy of actions if you're 50- and the recipe is 51+?

Yeah the biggest issue is level difference, the more levels you gain the easier it will get. My suggestion would be to level to 51-52 off the dark steel nuggets, twinthread, spruce lumber etc. than make the archaeoskin gear and you will be set for a while.

There is a level based component to just how much Progress your Synthesis moves provide, and how much Quality your Touches provide. Yes, hitting level 51 will make the level 51 recipes a lot easier.

My advice to you is to grind out level 50 no-star materials. Grind out Darksteel Nuggets, Spruce Lumber, Rose Gold Nuggets, etc. Grind out 51 in each class, then try the level 51 recipes once more.

Your level relative to the recipe always played a role in how much progress a synthesis skill provided, but after level 50 it got amplified. To avoid headache, try to avoid making things above your level whenever possible. As for how to proceed right now, being out of leve's stings a little. Roth's advice is good. Those recipes should be easy enough, you can find uses for a decent number of them, and on a lot of servers they still sell reasonably well. Obviously dont forget your GC turn ins, as those remain a great boost all the way to level 60. If i remember right the ixali quests fall off exp wise after 50, but it sounds like the patch in a couple weeks will include a new tribe that needs things made so you can use that soon to help yourself along too.

Also, if you find your stats still lacking dont bother with a ton of melds yet. The gear upgrades at 51 and 53 should be more then enough to bridge the gap to the upper tier.

As frizze said ixali give only 10k exp once you reach 50
However mor dhona leves still give a huge amount of exp if you're lower than 51
So to reach the holy 51 use GC turn in and leves
(And try to give all turn in even nq or try the Market board if there is a cheap one)

Back at the launch of heavensward EVERY people were solding hq stuff from the main quest for nothing (less than 5k)
It did make my Crafter skyrocket in no time

Thank you all for the advice! Something I neglected to mention is that I already have level 60 in all three of the gathering classes, so regardless of level, it's easier for me to get raw materials in bulk for things that don't require timed nodes, like cedar lumber, than things that do, like spruce lumber. I've been having some slight issues with shard and crystal supply, but now that I'm primarily using crystals rather than shards, aetherial reduction should be able to supply adequately.

Also a thing to note, when 3.3 comes out they will be adding moogle beast tribe dailies. They will be crafting dailies to get crafters from 50-60. That should also help a lot getting up there.

All the tips I could give about lving further have already been mentioned above. I'll just say it gets massively easier when you hit 52-53 and get new crafting tools(besides the archaeornis set). The jump from the ilvl55 ones is considerable.

What I would like to point out though is that the crafting mindset beyond 50 changes completely. From now on your crafting is focused on getting as many Inner Quiet stacks as possible with as little CP cost as you can and finish with a big Byregot's(as buffed as you can). Also when crafting recipes above your level Ingenuity is now your new best friend. Hope this helps!

Having just clawed through the 50-51 range without having BiS (or remotely close to it) gear from ARR, it starts getting much easier starting at 52, when you can craft new main hands (I would recommend starting with BSM one, since it'll snowball from there). I've all of my DoH now at 52, and I'm looking forward to 53 on all of them due to the massive gains from the new off hand items that become available.
