People tell me to shutup for voicing concerns about free company emblems? Well, gosh, hope you have fun wearing your gaudy clown costume ensemble masquerading as a Free Company uniform because no one voiced concerns about this potential issue.

i agree, i dont want be pasting those emblems on ma armor lol, but im for all to have custom emblems that you see beside the name
It is sensitivity, because you are being overly sensitive to what other people are wearing, your op is essentially "no one should have the right to offend my delicate sensibilities with things i find unpleasant to look at"I see nothing about sensitivity, I don't always agree with OP's points, but there is a good point made: It does look very silly and just kills the game image if it isn't done in a tasteful manner and would be viewed as a 'silly feature' which no one would take seriously enough to not make something silly looking.
If they're going to put work into something you'd think and hope they'd do it in a way it would look good, which doesn't have anything to do with sensitivity.
first off, they are not giving people a true customization, as in add a jpeg and it pops up, they said they would allow people to alter and move elements. Think picture chat in pso, probably to a lesser degree.
That said, people will obviously come up with creative ways to use it, and even if they didnt, there would probably some stock emblems you find disgusting, so.....
Stop worrying about what other people can dress like if they choose to, its an online game for everyone, not your personal what i like to see game.
You should have this right? if you are gaudy and clown like free company, then you should probably have a gaudy and clownlike emblem?
What emblem do you think a linkshell called the laughing pink picadillies should have? While i might not like it for myself, i hink the laughing pink picadilies should have the right to make pink armor and have a emblem that is somewhat reminiscent of a laughing picadilly if they so choose?
Aion has this, and it's not a big deal. While you do have some groups with silly designs, the majority use it properly.
I wasn't going to clown myself and I don't care if others do; but now that you made this topic, I'll make sure to transfer to Lindblum, don my clown suit, and stalk you everywhere you go.
Yeah coming from some troll that hates on everything and posts nothing but negativity AND can't even show who they are, people will show a lot of respect for you
It's not the imagery that concerns me. People should be able to depict anything they want for all i care. What concerns me is the quality of that imagery. I don't want to see people running around in some rainbow coloured Lady Gaga inspired fashion statement get-up. Get out of my face with that shit, naw mean? You should have this right? if you are gaudy and clown like free company, then you should probably have a gaudy and clownlike emblem?

And that's the best case scenario, anyway.
It's not that the concept offends me, it's that the sight of such crap offends my senses.
There is a threshold for such things. I mean, there is a threshold above which certain things stop being fun and start impinging unfavourably on the structural integrity of the world.

Some things just dont look good.
For example, patches. They dont look good. If you have a chainmail or something on your body, and then attach some multicoloured armpatch on top of that, it doesn't match at all and looks stupid. Not cool at all. Not cool, bro.
Another thing. Capes with huge insignia on them. Again, just looks like crap.
I give my approval and permission to SE for doing this, but dude, just get it right. ok?
Just get it right and dont make it look like crap, all I ask.
I'd rather have the high quality of gear we have now, with nothing more than the current colour customisation than the freedom to add really ugly embellishments to gear, which would obviously lower the overall quality.
The take home message being: keep the high quality and fashionable nature of gear at ALL costs. Even if it means limiting some of the freedom.

They said its not going to be 100% customizable. They said that they are going to do it like the linkshells, where you pick and choice patterns(more options) What you come up with can be put on a sleeve or infront of you're armor. Thats what I'm getting out of it. I for one am excited for it. They did really well on linkshell emblems. There's only 2 linkshells(that I've seen) have the same one. Soooooo, ya I wouldn't worry about it being tacky or silly.
