A Home for new Job Idea, a Thread dedicated to New Jobs.

I have edited this thread so it is now the new home for new Job ideas. It can be jobs from old FF games all just brand new jobs that you have thought of.

I thought it would be easier for Yoshida san and his developer team if there was one thread where they can find all the great ideas everyone has for new Jobs for FFXI4 also keeps the General Discussion forum a lot more organized.

If you have any new ideas please post them here.

    Thanks guys.

    BEASTMASTER

I really want a true pet class in this game.

A pet class that is about the pet. Not where the pet is more of a after thought or the job becomes a dot class.
Where the pet is the main weapon and you are the support and you fight beside it.
No matter what the pet is the main focus of the job you give it orders and you support it.

Beast Master was mainly a Job that you can solo with for example in FFXI you was able to pull mobs with ur pet and be a damage deller.

I know that FFXIV right now isn't a full on the solo side but I'm sure SE could make it work.

Just thought I would add more to my original post so people understand what I mean by a true pet class. Since people keep posting that I'm not fully explaining what I mean.

Beast Master should nearly be the as it was in FFXI but of cause changed to be playable in FF14 ARR. It should not be bast on a Job from World Of War craft like SMN was , complete wanna be Warlock. Beast Master should not be about dots which takes away the main focus of the pet which becomes more of a side thought with a few animations and a few buffs for the dots.

Beast Master is all about the pets baby they should be a force to be recond with but of course balanced and not over powered.

It would be cool if the weapon could ether be one handed dagger (sorry don't know the real name for it) or a Sturf. But that would be the second weapon for the job the main weapon would be the pet. So the pet does the main damage.
And you do a a little bit of damage along side it.

By going through the story quest you would get your main weapon which would be the pet and the secondary weapon which would be the dagger or the sturf.

When it comes to the main story quest for the job the first quest could be Called "Unleash your inner animal spirt" or "Unleash your inner animal cry".

The quest would teach you how to charm/tame your first wild mob/animal/pet.

And from there the rest of the quests will fully teach you about the job and you would learn the history of the Beast Master.

Please add Beast Master from FFXI and use the version of Beast Master as the base foundation to try and make the Job work in the game.

AGAIN I AM NOT SAYING TO COPY AND PAST BEAST MASTER SO IT IS A COMPLETE COPY OF THE JOB FROM FF11.

You can change it as much as you want so it fits into FF14ARR as long as it stays true to being a pet class and does not become a dot class.

Please do not make it a dot class.

Maybe a class with multiple pet insted of just 3 ?
It would be fun to be abble to travel through Eorzea in order to find creature and tame them, we could have a "taming" log (not sure the word exists but you get the idea ^^") and the ability to tame every creature to make theme our alies, a catch them all kind of thing

EDIt : Oh and with a beasty look, something like the dress sphere ine FF10-2, we really need less cuteness ^^"

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

I'm not sure exactly in every case of this statement but for me a "true" pet class would let me choose my pet from the wilds. In games like Guild Wars, WoW, FFXI and quite a number of others you can go out into the world and pick a minor non-humanoid enemy and lure it into your employ indefinitely. The process of "taming" it is usually entertaining too as you usually have to disarm yourself and try to win it's affections while it tries to bite your head off. Also, you can often die in the process if you fail. So, once successful, it really feels like you have gotten a "pet" so there is more a sense of some kind of bond as well as the achievement of the success of taming. Out of all the creatures out there, you got that one and it chose you too...and etc.

Ya it's just a psychological shortcut to make use feel affection for pixels but it is what it is... lol

Summoner in this game just feels like you generate a new potato each time and you feel about as much bond to it a regular potato. And once it disappears you don't really wonder what it's doing anymore than your baked potato you had for dinner last night.

One where the majority your actions/skills control what the pet does, rather than everything you do, is your own damage and your pet kind of just does its own thing (XIV smn)

Imo, that's what they should have done for smn, with your skills having different effects depending on which one you had summoned, but straight from SE, they seem to think it'd "be difficult for new players" so that's why we don't have a real pet job :/

A Pet class that is actually about the pets. Not something that was meant to be a pet class but instead turned in to a dot class.

I agree with what was said above. The pets in this game have pretty much a backseat to the player... figuratively and actually. The pets are kind of just flavor to your spells and a bonus to your damage and not a big part of anything besides giving you more skills to have... They are kind of like a scope to your gun I guess? Sure you are a "Summoner" but if anything your pets hold you back more than help. It's another body you have to keep alive and they don't really bring anything extra to the table that other jobs don't have.

I guess that is why they buffed pets so they don't take as much damage from enemies as player character take. I mean that really says something about the pets in this game doesn't it? In pretty much every other pet based job in a mmo that I can think of, your pet can straight up get killed just as easily as you, if not easier. Also, if your pet dies, it's a big inconvenience because you can't just instantly respawn them usually. In this game, likely your pet will never die even if you ignore its health bar and if it does happen to die, you can respawn it often without any dps loss (swiftcast ftw I guess?)...etc

In most other games, you don't get a main weapon so much as the pet IS your weapon. If anything you use spells for support or get some kind of weapon to support your pet with. Your pet doesn't support you, YOU are the support.

I'd like a beast master class. There already is a way to tame things in game like those quests where we weaken enemies and try calm them.

BST has been my most wanted job since I started XIV since it was my main in XI. That feeling was lessened a little after they introduced Machinist though. Not that Machinist is itself a bad job, but there seemed to be the intent to make it as close to BRD as possible. Not a total match of course, but enough of one. Since I'm not a fan of XIV's version of SMN for multiple reasons, I would be afraid BST would share the same fate. That it would be a DoT focus job with too little attention paid to the pet. Hopefully they can come up with something that works in the world of XIV, while not being too closely related to SMN.
