Suggestion for Novice Network system - Too many whining sprouts

    I would like to suggest about Novice Network system feature for future patch;

    Problem
I was invited sprouts to Novice Network as the system recommended, but some sprout are complaining/telling me these...
    * Why you add me to this chat log without asking first?!?
    * Please kick me from this chat! I don't want to see it!
    * This is my alt, please kick me.
    * How to disable this chat log?

By encounter those complaining, I feel very discourage to invite any new sprouts to NN system and feel like my contribution to the game community is in vain.

    Recommendation
    * Is it better to pop the confirmation window when mentor invite sprout to the network? Like "You are invite to Novice Network.yada yada.. Join? Yes/No"
    * If sprout choose No, make sure to give the choice for them to disable sprout icon so any mentor will not try to invite them again in the future. eg. "Disable sprout icon to prevent mentor from invite you to NN in the future? Yes/No"

Honestly is it really that hard to talk to people first? You know, send them a /tell introducing yourself and then asking if they would be interested in joining the Novice Network instead of spamming invites, god forbid you have to talk to people in an mmo.

Those sprouts sound like they have a reason to whine. Sounds like and sorry if I'm making assumptions but you're just sending out random invites without asking, that's as bad as FC's sending out blanket invites. Atleast with those you can refuse. I've been hearing a lot of bad things about Tonberry Novice Network anyway.

Isn't the automatic insertion into the NN upon receiving an invitation based on the assumption that a new player(sprout) may not understand the game well enough to essentially understand what's good for them though?

That's the idea, but the reality is people can easily get creeped out by getting dragged into a group they don't know and I bet most new players don't even know what the Novice Network is.

I guess it boils down to loss vs gains. Sure there will be those who express distaste at having their (imaginary) personal bubble violated, but since those who choose to stay far outnumber those who leave it must work well enough.

Because of the higher requirements to remove sprout status there is more likely you end up inviting a player that doesn't need most of this guidance and just wants to abuse this system for content carry. So have no interest in the chat.
But in general anyway i think we should design the novice network system differently.Make it like party finder.A person has x question and mentors can join the chat room to help advice on that situation. And if novices want they can also enter to see the advice as it may help them too.
I don't think the chat system works well currently.I have to turn it off a lot if in an instance because i just can't answer stuff when tanking etc

That may be the case on your server. On mine, at least once a day there's a sprout asking to get kicked out of the channel. Maybe they don't want to be in a linkshell with strangers. Maybe they just want to stick with friends only. Who knows.

I won't lie, my server is pretty modest compared to high population servers. It's regrettable that its effectiveness varies server to server. Our NN rarely sees much drama.

Thank you for your opinion. I think I'll stop invite sprouts to Novice network for a while until they fix/improve this system. I'll let other mentors do this job instead since I'm not the only one who can invite and I don't want to feel down when someone complaining about my action....that I did it for free to the game I love.

Also, I think asking before invite is useless because if some sprout choose to not join the Novice network but doesn't turn off the sprout status, some mentor will invite him/her again anyway. It's mean that this system was "designed" to let's mentor blind invite any sprouts to Novice network without the requirement of asking before invite.

That's why I think this system really need some adjustment.
