Determination vs Skill Speed for BRD

I've recently gotten back into the game and I'm looking at my i213 BRD and wondering what to do to be more valuable other than get higher level gear (DUH!).

So looking at melding the gear I currently have, I'm seeing that not all of my materia can be put into Critical Hit Rate and some should be put into either Determination or Skill Speed.

http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/ shows that the weight of these two stats are 0.166 for Determination and 0.168 for Skill Speed. As close as these numbers are, the weights themselves are not enough to tell me where I should put points.

So my question is this: which stat is more valuable to a Bard point-per-point? An explanation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

While i have not played Bard much in HW i would say SS is of higher value as is crit. Dervy i believe has stat weights and all that fun stuff posted somewheres.

Yeah, Ariyala gets the weights directly from Dervy. But like I said before, the weights are so close I'm not sure which is better for Bard.

I would meld crit wherever possible and determination if crit already maxed.

I'm leaning much more toward ss due to the complete lack of tp problems now, but either is fine probably.

Skillspeed definitely owns Determination. There arent TP Problems anymore, Det has the lower value and from my experience, Det feels like nothing at all while faster casting always is useful. Especially on aoe-heavy fights. According to Statweights, there isnt much of a difference (0,166 det vs 0,168 speed). You probably should choose whatever fits you the most.

I like Det because it's a constant on a class that is already one of the most RNG-heavy jobs as it is, and SkS just adds another layer of pseudo-RNG. Having some Skill Speed (600-650) is good as it lets you do two double weaves per Jaws cycle without moving Jaws up a GCD, but past that point I wouldn't go out of my way to ramp it up further in place of just adding Det.

Because they weigh so similarly, it really comes down to you, speed = faster/more attacks or det = linear boost in damage, overal the damage difference is probably miniscule enough not to matter.(5 dps tops?)

However if you are min maxing, SS wins. As with BLM, no auto attack(det boosts AAs)& unlimited tp/mp, makes SS very valuable.
