If I remember correctly, the only time DRK had a scythe in an FF was XI. Or DRG had a wyvern.
I bet if DRK was introduced in XIV and wielded a sword people would be up in arms as well. DIS IS BLASHFYME

How the eff is a necromancer not final fantasy? So the garlean empire building these crazy ass ships that fly around and shoot guns and *** is final fantasy, EVEN a muskateer/corsair class is final fantasy... but a mage job about using dark magic to raise the dead isn't final fantasy?

You also fight a reincarnated soul in a Mannequin, so yeah Necromancy was very prominent in Vanadiel. The only problem I have is if they cop out of adding Necromancer because of the "power scaling" they didn't want to do, i.e Necromancer would be weak during daylight hours but shines at night hours, which is why they went with Puppetmaster.
I wouldn't mind Necromancer from FFVa though, which was basically another form of Blue Mage.

I don't care if it is Final Fantasy-ish or not, I just don't want any necros to run around my sweet and nice Eorzea..
And I think the summoner job is useless if you have necromancer with 8 pets/summons while summoner has just 1..
Of course it has been part of Final Fantasy... and should should be considered here for sure.
Edit: Also, one powerful pet > 8 less powerful pets, but I don't think multiple pets is a totally bad idea either.

Eorzea is going to have a darker feel come 2.0, making "dark" jobs/classes like Necromancer all the more logical.
