My issue with housing timers.

Disclaimer: If I have misinterpreted or not figured something out as it should be, please correct me. Otherwise this is how I've seen how the housing timer works.


My story goes as such, 30 days ago I took a break from XIV to play other things and work on my backlog while the content lull was around. Today I went to look at my account management and lodestone info to determine how close I was to the 45 day housing demolition timer. I'm in a FC by myself because of special circumstances, and since I'm alone in my house and FC, there isn't anyone else that can access it to cancel the timer as it ticks. But my issue started when I went to my FC page to look at the info there. There was no evidence of me even still having or having ever had a house. On the Lodestone it said "No estate or plot" at the bottom of the information. So my panic attack started that somehow I was already gone for 45 days and I never got an email about my house and it was just destroyed already.

I renew with a time card and quickly login to check(hoped to wait longer till the next patch but no go), and my house to my relief is still there, but I had last logged in on the 23rd of April, so just at 30 days ago. But if I don't have an active sub, there is no way for me to ascertain this, especially since the Lodestone blatantly lied to me and said that I didn't even have a house. There was no record of having one there or anywhere else that I saw.

If we're going to have a housing timer in this game, I need to be able to observe it from outside of the game, because there was no way for me to tell if I was getting close to that deadline. 15 days from it being demolished and I wasn't even sure if I got the email about it either, but I wasn't close to that deadline which is the final countdown of sorts, so I had no way to verify where I was at unless I wrote down my last time logged in. TBH an MMO is not a game to be played repeatedly for long stretches of time, there are going to be dry spells and those are the times to go and play other games or do other activities, but for this game being in my own FC and house besides shared estate wise, I have no way to check into this sort of thing from outside of the game, and it would be nice if the Lodestone had accurate info to this end. /wall

You get an email notifying you of demolition and on what date. You'll get at least two or possibly 3 emails, I forget exactly cause I allowed one I bought to go to demolition so I could buy another.

Yes and when I checked my FC page it said it did not have a house, can you explain that to me? I mentioned that in the OP.
And that post was from April 19th 4 days before my sub ran out, it's not still going now because it's been longer then two weeks, nearly 5 now, so the timer should have been reticking again, but I was not aware of it so the post does give me some info.

They haven't turned it back on. I can't explain why your FC shows you have no house if it is an FC house.

Well then I could have waited longer and screwed myself by logging in again when I have nothing to do, that's my fault.
My other issue still stands, there's no way to check the timers without being logged into the game and the Lodestone still failed to show that I even had a house.

There is no issue because when you start getting close to your demolition date SE automatically starts sending you emails to warn you. I think they said they send you two before the house is officially relinquished.

To be fair, I often lose e-mails (never received) so I agree they should have a better way to see how much time you have left on your house. It would be a nice thing to know even if the e-mails aren't an issue.

But that's after what, 35 or 41 days or something? You have no way to check until then, there should be a way to check as soon as like 20 days go by where no one has used the house.

i would suggest this for when the timers are returned. when you plan to leave mark the date and put 45 days on a calendar. either through google as a event or similar. so you can get a rough estimate on if you are actually close to said date.
