I... don't... entirely get what the problem is with what OP said? You're limited to one map per day in terms of going out and getting one. The literal only thing that the randomness of if a node has a map or not adds to it is... wasted time. Like, literally, there's no advantage of it existing except artificially lengthening the time needed to go get a map. Am I missing something here? What's the argument for this? Do people like just... running around and clicking on nodes?

Even an outlier of 30~ minutes is perfectly fine considering what you potentially stand to earn from clearing them. If your time is so precious that you can't spend about 20 minutes looking for a map yourself you also have the option of just buying the maps straight off of the Market Board too. The system is fine.
I'm so confused!! I am. So confused. Are you people yanking this guy's leg here or something?

Right, so let's say you wake up fresh as a daisy and log into XIV. You think to yourself, what do I need to do today in this MMO? Well, one thing I want to get out of the way is going to get my daily treasure map. So you teleport to the location, you click on a node... no map. So you get off that node, move over to another, click that, no map. This happens again and again, eventually you happen upon your map.

Instead of that you could literally just click the node and the map is there, you collect it, it's done. It's not like this is a honed skill you are mastering, the ancient art of Walking From Node To Node. It's literally there for no other reason than making you waste time - you are going from one node to the other and hitting the right mouse button, then hoping that it'll let you have your map. It's not even like you only get one shot at it, it's not like traditional RNG, it's just sort of... there... and I don't know how people got the point where they thought it was a good thing.

I don't gather, right, I haven't done maps since 2.0 so I don't know if there's been some massive change that I'm unaware of. But, afaik, if it's still "go to a location, click on nodes, eventually you'll get the map you want, done" then... why... what...
