No thanks.
This is only the start of players complaining about maps. I bet you someone will complain about these maps being locked to gatherers, even though that is so illogical and stupid.

People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
I've actually had it take 30+ fish before, rarely. I'm still in the "all is fine" camp though.Seriously?
It takes 1 min if you get lucky, and 10-15 mins if you're unlucky..
... How about we allow our retainers to go gather them instantly so we don't have to even teleport out of town? Or better yet.. Forget all that, just mail one to us every 18 hours... /facepalm.

The rate is fine.
Ok it's rng we all hate rng. All I am saying is it sometimes takes a while to get a map. Now that dragon skin will be most sought after now we need more rng it might be a wyvernskin so it might take a while to get a dragon map why spend 20 mins trying to get a map when we can do something else with that time if they increase the rate. I would rather do something else for 15 mins why are we ok with this rng. If they increase the rate less time spent trying to get a map more time spent elsewhere. Why are you guys against this?

Because it's fine the way it is and this is a complete nonissue? On average it should only take you ~15 minutes to pull a dragonskin map. Even an outlier of 30~ minutes is perfectly fine considering what you potentially stand to earn from clearing them. If your time is so precious that you can't spend about 20 minutes looking for a map yourself you also have the option of just buying the maps straight off of the Market Board too. The system is fine.Ok it's rng we all hate rng. All I am saying is it sometimes takes a while to get a map. With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
the thing I see with the lock behind the dragonmap skin the access to the dungeon are few
a) 1 map per day (nothing was said that you could collect many maps a day)
b) that map gives you 20% of chances to unlock the access to the dungeon) when you get access you have at one point when Inside the dungeon 50% of chances to get the right door to continue, if you dont, you fail and are thrown out.
it does make a lot of RNG to rely upon. In short, out of 100 days and by that 100 maps, you could access the dungeon 20x (if effectively it works as intended). But who can say with certainty that there wont be people that wont be able to access it at all because RNG is against them and others always ? nobody so yeah lots of RNG there too.
I sure hope I read that wrong and that I am mistaken but as it stands and the information released/heard/gathered makes it so that the access sure relies alot on RNG too much in my opinion.
Is ridiculous to lock it behind being a gatherer to get the map but that I can live with as I understand one can gather and those that are not gatherers can group up, why not (although I have to get confirmation on this too)
Is this a complain ? not really. It reminds me a bit of the Atma quests at the begining, I attempted for 15 days in a row to get atmas in the end I got none out of those 15 days around 8h a day and I had the right weapon equipped, and this map thing we are getting remind me alot of that, it is highly frustrating to see others doing somethign that you attempt desperatedly and you never succeed without really being able to do anything against it. I sure hope it wont be the same situation with this new dragonmap skin.
A dungeon access shouldnt be made accessible through a map OR it should be accessible 100 % of the time with the RNG Inside of the 50 % to get the right door, that I can live with but not the 20% and on top of it the 50%.
Just me and I hope we will ahve soon more information about this

I... don't... entirely get what the problem is with what OP said? You're limited to one map per day in terms of going out and getting one. The literal only thing that the randomness of if a node has a map or not adds to it is... wasted time. Like, literally, there's no advantage of it existing except artificially lengthening the time needed to go get a map. Am I missing something here? What's the argument for this? Do people like just... running around and clicking on nodes?
I'm so confused!! I am. So confused. Are you people yanking this guy's leg here or something?Because it's fine the way it is and this is a complete nonissue? Right, so let's say you wake up fresh as a daisy and log into XIV. You think to yourself, what do I need to do today in this MMO? Well, one thing I want to get out of the way is going to get my daily treasure map. So you teleport to the location, you click on a node... no map. So you get off that node, move over to another, click that, no map. This happens again and again, eventually you happen upon your map.
Instead of that you could literally just click the node and the map is there, you collect it, it's done. It's not like this is a honed skill you are mastering, the ancient art of Walking From Node To Node. It's literally there for no other reason than making you waste time - you are going from one node to the other and hitting the right mouse button, then hoping that it'll let you have your map. It's not even like you only get one shot at it, it's not like traditional RNG, it's just sort of... there... and I don't know how people got the point where they thought it was a good thing.
I don't gather, right, I haven't done maps since 2.0 so I don't know if there's been some massive change that I'm unaware of. But, afaik, if it's still "go to a location, click on nodes, eventually you'll get the map you want, done" then... why... what...

Where are people getting this 20% chance to enter the dungeon from? It is a 50% chance to enter. Please read the live letter post.
