    If we could substitute ingredients in recipes.

    Hi all,

    I've noticed that there are quite a few examples of currently useless materials on the market board. I was curious if anyone else would think it would be a helpful option if recipes had the option to use substitute materials.

    For example, toad leather and silver ingots are popular due to them being used in the glamour prism recipe. What would you all think of the option to swap out those for a material of a higher grade (like peiste leather or gold ingots)?

    Obviously this could work for other recipes as well. I think this would be a useful way to give long forgotten materials new uses, and keep market board prices from reaching single digit lows.

    I think this is a nice idea. I dont know how difficult that would be to implement, but it seems fair if the substitute had to be something higher grade like your example. Something that comes to mind would be using the coeurl fur in place of earlier leather, like boar

    I think something akin to a mutamix for crafting materials could be a nice idea.

    Basically a "mystery synthesis" option where you can use whatever materials you want and it'll yield a random result.

    Could have a chance of making anything in the crafting log for your current crafting class and maybe have a rare chance of producing some items which can't be produced through normal means.

    Most of the time you'll probably get junk items but once in awhile might end up with something nice

    This would also be a good potential use for all the useless jewels that are cluttering up the market board. If we could use them to make glamour prisms, there may be some actual demand for them.

    I was just desynthing some market board surplus, and realized that this idea would be a great way to get rid of some of the housing materials that no one seems to be buying.

    yeah add a mutimix thing that allows the use of random left over mats for a random item.....

    goes to any old venders buys 1000's of cheap mats converts for 1000's of higher value mats and ruins the market value of everything..p

    hmmm ok lets re-think this alittle now we totally ruined the markets for every crafter.

    just cant be made to work the way you suggest. even with mat tier lockouts youd still ruin the markets pretty substantially.

    I thought about this, and it would have to be tiered similarly to how the materia yields are for mutamix. For example if you use a material that is used in level 1-5 crafts, it can only yield a level 1-5 item. If you used primarily level 60 ingredients it would yield level 60 items and so forth. Additionally, where HQ is concerned it would be like using quick synthesis, yes it can happen but only has a 1% chance.
