"White Mage Quest: In the Wake of Death"

Quick question for those who have done the level 58 quest for WHM, "In the Wake of Death":

How hard should it be to do with an ilevel of 119 (all ironworks except a daystar for the second ring)? I haven't had much trouble with quests until now (I am level 60 and I know, I know, I am behind on gear, but I was at 59/almost 60 when I started HW). I realized I had neglected some WHM quests so I went back to finish them. I couldn't find any info on recommended ilevel for the quest mentioned, though.

I did use Sleep, AeroII, StoneII/III, Holy, Divine Seal, Regen, Shroud, CureII, etc, etc, and a judicious use of Cleric Stance, and was moving well as needed. But wow, I wiped hard 4 times and got lucky that a passing player cast a few helpful spells may way on my next and final attempt. I had a good opening, very strong, but then I mostly just had to run, try to cure, run, try to cure, etc the rest of the fight until luck or mana ran out.

I don't mind a challenge, I just wasn't sure though if it was my lack of skill, poor rotation, or being under-geared that was the reason for the spike in difficulty.

I'd wager it's your gear mostly. The enemy HP, ATK, and DEF increase is pretty steep after 55 and things tend to hit hard and die harder.

Thanks for the quick and thoughtful reply.

Not sure how far to try to jump ahead on the gear curve without getting in over my head with the gear I have now. Hmm, maybe the level 55/ilevel 136 Othodox set? Naw, have to run the same level 55 dungeon over and over and I would be undergeared. Oh, maybe the level 54/ilevel 133 Ramie set, as it comes from quests, levequests, and merchants. Oh, but no access to that zone, so lower... well I'm sure I will figure it out

Generally it's best to use gear current to your character level. So if you're LV58 now, stuff you find from The Vault or the NPC vendors in the level appropriate zone can get you the gear you need.

Typically, your weapon has the biggest individual impact on your performance. So check the market board for a reasonably priced replacement? It looks like youre up to level 60, so if youve made it to idyllshire the eso one doesnt take that long to earn doing roulettes. If not, check the clan centurio vendor in ishgard... there should be an ilvl 170 set there. I cant give class specific advice, havent started working on white mage yet.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was level 59.9 when I hit HW as WHM, so I only had access to ARR zones hence my top gear was Ironworks. I decided to go back and level up SCH to 50 so the XP wouldn't be wasted for the HW story, but then ran into some WHM 50+ quests and figured "Why not?" Well, that's when I realized my gear might be too low for the level 58 WHM quest (which I got through with random help). But I need to gear better before the level 60 WHM quest. So I am now focusing on questing through HW to unlock zones so I can buy better gear. After I beat Ravana I'm hoping the next zone will have better stuff from vendors.

Speaking of -- wait, just saw Frizze mentioned i170 in Ishgard. Will have to check that out...

If you go over to Azys Lla there's a vendor that sells iLevel 150 gear for the left side at level 60. I think you can get the right side off of the market board.

There's also this reddit thread (with a linked document) you should check out.

That's the vendor in the Forgotten Knight who sells the old 'Law tome' gear formerly gained from Idyllshire now for Centurio Seals, the vendor is the old woman next to the original Clan Centurio vendor behind the counter at the Forgotten Knight. Centurio Seals can be gained by doing the Heavensward daily and weekly hunts - if you haven't unlocked this yet, it's a very quick and easy quest from the npc standing in front of the Hunt Board outside the Forgotten Knight in Ishgard. It's well worth doing if you haven't done so already.

If im not mistaken, they also added centurio seals(might have to join the clan first) to all the A and S rank hunts throughout the world. So a few hours running around with a hunt-themed LS, and some upgrades should be well within reach.
