Like I said I focus my effort on actually helping people with questions and content clear when they ask, the invite part is a non-issue that takes away from my time actually helping people.

I'm wondering how many people in there that gave opinion about /t before invite was inviting sprouts to the Novice Network...If you never did, please do not give any opinion!. Just login and try /t to invite sprouts first!

For me, I had been inviting sprouts to novice network since this system implemented and so far I rarely saw the whining sprouts asking me to /t before invite. But just a couple days ago I saw a lot .. and I'm not happy about it. Why? Because I'm doing it as my contribution to the game I love and what I got in return? ...Complaint.

So.. for me I'll end my mentor duty for now and leave it to other mentors.

It's a known fact most people who whine about the NN either don't participate in it or maybe were there for 5 mins, they don't help new players and try to get in the way of those who try.

Different people will have different feelings to be randomly invited. Some people are just playing on alts or others who are new to the game just googling the stuff they to know.

Devs: Mentor System is working as intended. Yea looks like it by the quote from Petdo. When mentors don't want to be a part of it, its a joke.

Here's some advice , instead of making pointless networks that make people hate being a part of, or this hard on for pvp that sometimes works, focus on making PVE less of a snooze fest and pointless vertical climb.

    That is all.

As stated, there really should be a confirmation box with a notice about both how to temporarily/permanently leave the NN and how to remove your sprout status (for people who do not wish to get any future invites) when you get invited. This would solve like 95% of the problems.

EDIT, READ BEFORE REPLYING. For any other person who wants to quote me: Trial accounts can't reply to tells, you have 50-60 new sprouts that are potentially trial accounts, how do you counter that?
If you see a sprout walking around, you can always just... use /say instead. The /say mode actually does exist for a reason besides "talking" to NPCs to complete quests, you know.

Chances are that's the default chat mode they'll be in anyway, and people who are actually new to the game may not know how to send/respond to tells in the first place even if they aren't on a free trial.

I think Alimdia is right. Hate me if you will, but I mass invite people all the time. For every one that complains there are several more that don't. And you can leave NN by simply typing in the command /novicenetwork. Easy peasy. I'm less concerned with hurting one person's feels than I am about supplying the NN community. Sure there are outliers that "Just wanna be left alone, goshdarnit" but that really is the minority. Plus you shouldn't make it sound like NN is some sort of commitment. Any more than you should expect mentors to make mentoring a job with requirements. Some people just like to help when and where it's convenient. They are no less worthy to be mentors than a player that makes their game time all about helping another player.

    Fynlar, read post #28.
If you are in the novice network, press the novice search button and you will see sprouts all over eorzea, the system is simply unsustainable if you have to scout every single map looking for sprouts to ask them in /say chat, for saying 50-60 sprouts per day.

    The thing is

    1) nobody is holding you at gunpoint to make sure you meet some quota of 50-60 sprouts per day
    2) I really don't think you're MEANT to be /searching all over the world constantly everyday for sprouts to invite. More like, you see a sprout in the process of your everyday adventuring, you /wave a greeting at them or something, then ask them if they wanna join. Sure, you will not come across every sprout this way, but you're not meant to. You are not the only mentor in the game.

For every one that complains there are several more that don't.
Assuming that what you're doing is polite simply because most people don't complain is a great way to make many other social blunders elsewhere in life. Just saying
