It is my hope that Samurai will fill this whole in my heart.
Also...Black Mage and Paladin both use magic in their tanking so a magic based tank isn't really needed. :P

I think everyone in this thread has forgotten something pretty important...
They could very well have Samurai wield a naginata instead of a katana ^o^
After all the samurai lady from the ffxi event is still in eorzea and she did wield a naginata... just a thought lol ;P

Assuming you're referring to their weapons, the main difference would be that dragoon's weapon is meant for piercing attacks; while the naginata, iirc, is primarily a slashing weapon. Which would fit well with samurai type techniques.
Referring mostly to play style and aesthetics. It would share most if not all of the same animations as DRG. Not to mention the fact that DRG was given a Naginata already.
