Please help a noob understand Ventures

Hi guys!

So, yeah, I've got a bunch of Venture tokens in my inventory from quests and the like.

...what are they?
How do I use them?

Hold onto them. You can do a quest to send your retainer (s) out on ventures. You have to assign them a class/job and equip them, and they level up and bring you stuff from their ventures. The higher they level, the better the goodies. You can sell, use, or equip what they bring back.

There are three different types of ventures that you can send retainers out on.

-Hunting Ventures send your retainer out for a period of time close to an hour in search of an item of your choosing. These are typically materials obtained from beasts such as Boar Hide which you can use for crafting or selling.

-Field/Water/??? Exploration Ventures send your retainers out for a period close to a full 24 hours in which they will return with a random item, most often something that is entirely useless quite frankly.

-Quick Explorations are similar to the above, only they last an hour or so I believe in exchange for costing two ventures rather than one.


The details might be a little sketchy but I believe that is the jist of it.
