I really wouldn't mind a new race in 4.0....even if I heard that something was mentioned about it being a watery/sea expansion? Viera could make sense, underwater jungles...and their feet could help them swim or something....

I tried "for science !" and....It was just the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen T.T
Not closs to a Viear at all, Roe are too....well...."gifted" by nature to look like Vieras T.T
But mayby it might work with an elezen wearing loooooonnnng hairs

The main issue with the races is that they aren't being taken far enough from being a human with a party hat put on in some cases. There are significant design differences between the FFXI and FFXIV races, for example, with Mithra, Tarutaru, and Galka all having more pronounced animal features. Tarutaru are literally mole people, for example, and the Mithra are far more cat like in that game than they ever will be in FFXIV.

Thankfully the design on the Aur Rah is passable and probably a bit better than the others, though that is more so because they are based on the void sent, which have a ton of different forms. Maybe it's just the fate of having inbreeding in the design department that the three homages ended up being generic? As for Viera, I'm not sure I'd trust SE with a 10 foot pole on doing an FFXIV redesign.

They might be able to do one, but it is going to overlap the design space of at least one of the existing races already and they probably wont take the animal features far enough. Even the original version was sort of going towards where the Miqote are now today.

Why redesign ? what's amazing with Viera is that they look nice and yet strong, just give us this one, the feminine and "adult" version, not something that look like a lala or miquo'te with bunny ears.

This game needs some "strong" woman design, getting tired to play childrens / teeneager :/

I love that picture! Thats how a Viera should definitely look like. The female concept is great and I prefer the 2nd male concept for some reason. That childish version is just ugly.

One side note: In this picture, the concept looks like Elezen with bunny ears (which is not a bad thing). I just wish to have more variety here. Something which makes this race look more unique.

Maybe I repeat myself, but I hope SE wont make that small mistake they did with Au Ras. Dont get me wrong, I totally love this race. But in my opinion they look a bit to much like "Hyur with scales and horns". I miss something unique here (some early concepts were great). But thats only my opinion. I m glad SE made Au Ras at least beautifull (and sexy). If I have the option, I would just change minor things like more scales and claws on their arms/hands to give them a more demonish look.

Concidering how they presented the previous races, like Au Ra, It might end up look closely to the pictures, and that would be perfect^^

All they have to do to not mess up is just take the Viera from XII and bring them over with very minor adjustments to make them fit. Otherwise we'll end up just being Gold Saucer bunny girls. I'm still in favor of having a Viera like race in XIV not actual Viera as they are a unique race to Ivalice.
