    Gear at lvl 60//Materia Melding

Hey everyone, im about to hit lvl 60 soon and im wondering about gear and materia melding. I haven't leveled up as a crafter yet, and i havnt done any materia melding myself, or know what the strongest materia's u can get are. So my questions are these...

    1) Right now, what is the strongest gear (If i wanted a set for pure strength and dps, and a second set for VIT) to acquire? For both weapons/armor/accessories.

    2) Can i start grinding for them right away once i hit 60? or do i need to be a certain distance in the heavensward main story quests.

    3) Melding Materia...if i wanted to add Skill Speed materia to my gear...what is the strongest skill speed materia avail atm? (EG. Skill Speed materia lvl5??)

    4) Lets say the answer to question 1 for weapons is the "midan metal sword"...and it has 1 slot for materia...(which i would like to use skill speed materia)

Is there a way to craft that sword or have a crafter make it better and increase its base stats in anyway? making it stronger than a stock midan metal sword? Or is there a way a crafter can add MORE materia slots to the sword?? Just trying to see if customizing gear in this way is possible....

    5) along side question 4...lets say that the answer is NO...you cant make the sword stronger than what it is, and u only get 1 materia slot. Does anyone know if a weaker sword...with say 4-5 materia slots (with strongest materia) would be MORE powerful than a midan metal sword with just 1? Or is there a high lvl sword/armor/accessories that IS craftable that has the potential to be stronger than the strongest base gear?

I hope im being clear, thanks in advance guys!

On mobile so I can't answer everything but I can answer 4 and 5.

    4) No.

    5) Also no. The Midan Metal Sword (as well as all current Midan weapons) is iLvl 245, which means it has more Weapon Damage/Magic Damage than all other weapons.

WD is THE deciding factor with weapons. 1 WD is roughly equal to 10 of your Primary stat. No materia can outweigh that.

As ashelia said weapon damage is absolute for the weapon (except for healer and caster with less impact)

    As for your (1)

Either you want pure damage or VIT it's the same
    A full VIT oriented stuff
There is no way and no argument for a tank to take STR acc
Any tank who do that is wrong (thank to the 3.2 patch byregot god bless it !)

Any sane healer will refuse to heal a Str tank with low Vit meld
    Nop

    (2)
Start gathering lore and eso tome now
    Do the void ark
Melding is a confort if you don't have 240 yet so only IV materia not V

    (3)
Right now the Quick Arm V is the biggest one available
    But be careful with skillspeed
You need to know ho much you want and not having g too much
Or you will end up TP dry in no time

Just to correct you, Skill Speed is Quickarm. Battle dance is Parry, and no one wants that

Okay so if im understanding, cant craft high level swords like midan metal sword to make them better. Got it.

Any tank who do that is wrong (thank to the 3.2 patch byregot god bless it !) Dont understand that, what happened in patch 3.2? And what about str oriented OT's? Wouldnt that make sense?

It's wrong because there is literally 0 value to doing STR vs VIT.

Before 3.2, it made sense, because VIT was just more HP.

Now, both STR AND VIT increase attack power by the same amount, except that VIT still increases HP.

So there's no attack power gain by going pure STR, you just end up with the same attack power but less HP

So your saying that if i allocate my 35 points to str only and gear up with strength boosting gear...my attack power and damage output will be the same as if i were to put my allocation points towards vit and gear with vitality gear? either way im doing the same amount of damage?????
