Perhaps it's your in game name. I know a few people who would be turned off from RPing with someone named after a pony in a children's cartoon.
I'm also having trouble believing this is not a troll. It's very hard to take someone seriously with the name you chose.

This.
Quite a lot of people on there are pretty strict with names and their adherence to lore.
The comic is based off what alot of people go through cause they are either A)Shy or B)Nobody around to find the RP they want so that comic is pretty much in a nutshell with RP. I find RP with alot people and friends and the people who are strict with names well, its best to ignore them and move on. By what you saying since you are agreeing with him If someone was named naurto, Its not ok cause its from a popular anime series even though its a real Japanese name first? Or how about Genji, akuma, goki or goku? What that person is doing is limiting their RP aspect. That's no different then what that comic is showing, they refuse to RP with anyone in the inn cause they don't see any good name that fits with *their* lore.
When you see someones glamour with non matching boots
Not their lore, the game's lore. There's a pretty big difference there, as the latter is an established concrete base that people can use to make their character fit seamlessly into the culture of whatever race they chose. People who tend to stick to the lore often have more promising results than those who don't.
Finding RP isn't difficult, all it takes is throwing yourself out there. It's a do or don't. There will be people who are willing to approach but not always.
I don't roleplay with people who named themselves after popular characters as I'd rather stick to XIV's lore for the sake of immersion and the RP itself making sense. For instance, a Doman using a Japanese name is good because Doman culture is based off of Edo-period Japan. It's apparent they put thought into their character's background. A Keeper using a Doman name and RPing with that isn't what I'd go after. I won't badmouth them or say anything negative to them, but I won't roleplay with that person either.
I expect you to get a little upset over what I said considering the other posts you made in this thread and that's completely fine, I'm just stating what a lot of people look at since names do give a lasting impression.

Sorry if it felt like I'm getting little upset with you, after dealing with that one guy, the way you are saying it isn't as bad cause you are explaining it well and nicely unlike him saying I'm a troll and I have no respect for RP and so on. And sorry if I meant *their* lore, I meant to say the lore in general. RP has different stances in how the a person precedes it, that's the whole point of roleplay, Its not just one way, kinda like a game of D&D editions, Not everyone likes the same version.

( Like a twit I took your quote out on accident, OP. Oops. )
Awesome~
Anyway, they won't like the same version but not caring for established lore won't get them anywhere. It's like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. DnD is different in that it's limited to your friends and is open for being altered in the way you see fit because of this. Whereas using the MMO you're amongst strangers and what's established in the game is the base. DnD is pretty malleable, I play it on occasion and fun times were had!
For instance, the reason why I'd rather roleplay with someone who obeys lore in-game is because they also know how to work inside the confinement of FFXIV's world and do it well. Things are also easier to explain and can be woven into other scenarios with ease. Hence why I have zero interest to RP with someone who disregard's XIV's lore.
Now when it comes to approaching people, there's a good train of thought I adopted: Standing around and waiting for someone to approach over fear of "what if they don't like me" won't get me anywhere. It's the words "what if" that does it, but turning that "what if" into a certain "yes" or "no" is more preferable as now there is a solid answer upon approach. That's how I look at it anyway.

There you are making assumptions of me again. Perhaps if you stopped making assumptions of my statements, I wouldn't feel the need to express my opinions so "passive aggressively" as you put it.Sorry if it felt like I'm getting little upset with you, after dealing with that one guy, the way you are saying it isn't as bad cause you are explaining it well and nicely unlike him saying I'm a troll and I have no respect for RP and so on. I never said you, yourself were a definite troll. I said it was hard to believe this is not a troll post. I probably should have added the post bit but I thought my message would be clear regardless; apparently it was not. I also stated that it was hard to take you seriously with the name you chose. Please stop looking for reasons to make me the villain here when I'm just stating my own thoughts on the subject. This is general discussion after all and we are allowed to express our thoughts, opinions, ideas, ect so long as they are worded coherently. We are allowed to debate certain topics and dislike them with what information the original post holds, unless further information is provided during the course of the discussion that would prove to better our opinions. But so far my opinion in this discussion remains the same.
The point in question was never stated. The context of the original post left it open to us to believe that s/he was having trouble finding RP.

In the exact same post that you griped at Pinkie for making assumptions, you admit that you read the comic, and ASSUMED s/he was having trouble finding RP.
By sharing a comic that someone else made,
and saying that this is RP in a nutshell.
That doesnt mean that this is their experience. you ASSUMED that this is what the OP meant. Pinkie has never stated that. Pinkie has actually stated the opposite of that.
So stop making assumptions, stop assuming things that have no merit, and using these assumptions to attack Pinkie.
Just read the comic, laugh (or dont) and move the heck on.
Fate can be cruel, but a smile better suits a hero.
We will remember that they lived.
