LVL 60 BiS Fishing Gear + Materia questions

    Hello all,

I am finding scattered information all over the net about fishing and gear and Materia.

Some people mention not to exceed "X" Perception because it makes things harder to catch but there's no evidence supporting this.

Some people mention gathering is a wasted stat as well because there's nothing over the cap needing a boost in gathering.

So I come here for clarification. Could anyone please provide a list of gear and or what Gathering / Perception to aim for?

I use my fishing for CUL so I will be trying to invest as much into this gear as I can to fully optimize it.

Thanks again in advance for any clarification!

The fish that you can get, but occasionally gets away have inbuilt "haa haa I got away" -RNG machine! Those are the green fish and star rated fish like Giant Clam and Titanic Sawfish for example. That does not happen with normal fish meant for leveling. If a fishing spot has higher fish than your level allows, it will bite, but you have no way of reeling it in due to lacking the required gathering stats.

Anyway! Depending what fish you need to catch, gathering around 450+ is sufficient, most likely, according to comments on ff14angler site!

Currently there is no big BiS for the gatherer
The more the red script stuff the better
Accessories are craft and belt too

If you aim for high GP you will have to keep some white ilevel 150 stuff that are meldable.

    Or...

Wait for the 3.3 new stuff

WRONG. BIS currently is the red scrip body and main hand with EVERYTHING else crafted and pentamelded. Right now gathering is the least important stat with perception and GPs both being needed. As MIN and BOT I'm at 766 gathering, 751 perception and 683 GPs. FSH can't get that high due to lack of an off hand tool.

Wait for the 3.3 new stuff
    This is a good opption.

    Well...
In fact i do agree after rereading
Because red stuff do not allow high GP
    Which white melded stuff do
(And my own Fisher is full melded white and have good stat too)
Acc and belt stay bis since crafted and high ilevel... and their upgrade won't come until 3.4 if they come)

The left side gear (not counting the belt) bought with Red Gathering Scrip is the best stuff currently available.

The right side gear (plus the belt) bought with the Red Gathering Scrip is almost pointless - the only possible benefit being Materia. Avoid this stuff unless you know you are planning on binding it and then returning to your old gear!

The i170 accessories (including belt), when melded and HQ, are the best stuff currently available. Fortunately, these are not class-specific, so getting them for one gathering class means getting them for all, in the same purchase/crafting!
