If you don't make it by 3.3, craft summoning bells and mog mail boxes and also invest in those mini aetherytes if you can. These three things will be in demand. Hell even simple stuff like partritions that can be used a lot.

As for currently, u could try reducing aetherial sand to get dawnborne sand. It's about 40k a piece on my server n that can add up fast if u do it a lot.

    The rotation is..
Discerning eye + meth appraisal + discerning eye + math appraisal + single mind + meth appraisal
Should get u 459 collectability, which is perfect for dawnborne.

Damn, dawnborne sands aren't even worth 1/4 of that on Balmung. With 200 of those you could buy a house. That just seems unreal to me.

For those who aren't into crafting/gathering, probably the easiest way to make gil is by selling level 5 materia.

You get 1 per week from Void Ark for free, and you can farm Spoils in the Diadem to buy more. Crit V's were going for 400K+ last time I checked.

Without a crafting or gathering class to help you make money, I would suggest farming mobs for drops. Depending on how much things are selling for on the Market Board will determine what's most worth your time investment, but if I were going to go out to farm item drops to sell I would go after Deepeyes, Okeanis, Puks, Crawlers, Antelope, Aldgoat, Diremite, Dragons, Karakul Sheep, and I'm sure there are others I am forgetting, and you probably already farm most of these mobs, but these are the guys I would farm for drops to sell. Again, checking the market board before you head out to farm will definitely be to your advantage so you can invest your time farming mobs whose drops are going to yield you the most gil.

A slow way to make money is to buy items from vendors and put them up for sale at a profit on the Market Board. Most people don't take the time to actually seek out vendors for the items that they need and will instead go straight to the Market Board and over pay for something that they could have bought much much cheaper at a NPC sometimes even when that NPC is literally 3-5 steps from the Market Board itself. I hope this helps, though with you sitting at 2.5mil I don't know that I'm providing any info that you're not already aware of and utilizing, but again, I hope at least some of this is helpful to you!

There is a lot of money in ephemeral, unspoiled and legendary nodes if you fully level gatherers. I personally use my Miner and Botanist everyday. I often use them when queued for content in DF which can take awhile. The key to making money in this game from a gathering perspective is to develop a sell list of things that move well and hopefully sell for enough gil. I can personally make a million a day if not more depending upon how much time and effort I put into it. 220 gear mats have been real money makers but that does require a high end gatherer.

Also finding the time to be sure your retainers hold the low price is key to selling as well. It does take time to both gather and manage your retainers. That is difficult for some who don't have a lot of time.

Also doing red gathering scrips is key to leveling your gatherer with 180 level gear. It does take time as well but capping reds each week is important. Blue scripts are also key to unlocking legendary nodes where there is a ton of money to be made. I have a stack of red scripts sitting in retainer and hope the SE isn't going to pull a color switch when the next gear wave comes out in 3.3.

The weekly challenge logs can add up to some nice loose change too.

I dont like to take from the poor, but its how this game works, you dont get much from NPCs or fighting...
When you sell something on Market Board you get money someone other have hard earned...

Don't forget your retainers as well, they can go out and gather things that you can turn around and sell for a nice profit. There isn't a need to do end game crafting to still turn a profit, it just requires more work to have a large return. There are certain items that I craft the NQ version of that sell for 15-20k each at 0 cost to me since my retainers bring me everything I need. I found that the rate they bring me the mats is solid enough that I'm not flooding the market with those items and it keeps the price stable.

Favours are a good source of income for someone in your situation. Check the price of the following items on your server:

Red Ooid / Wyvern's Wart / Purified Coke
Blue Ooid / Bladeleaf / Odorless Animal Fat
Green Ooid / Void Nut / Dryad Sap
Yellow Ooid / Black Swan Feather / Moonbeam Silk
Violet Ooid / Foxglove / Raziqcoat

For 100 red gathering scrips, you can get two sets of five favours, which should yield around (RNG is involved here) 20 of each of the botany and mining items above (for example, 5 Churning Mists botany favours should be ~20 Wyvern's Warts). You can sell these directly if the price is good on your server or, with the addition of 100 red crafting scrips, convert them into the corresponding crafting material (10 Red Ooid + 10 Wyvern's Wart + 1 red crafting scrip token (50 scrips) = 15 Purified Coke) and sell that.

This is doable with nothing more than the basic Lv.60 gathering and crafting gear (i.e. Serpentskin/Chimerical Felt/Adamantite).
