    which classes to level desynth?

    Good morning!

I've been hoarding (seriously hoarding) things for desynth for a while now, but I'm finally out of space. Its time for me to start desynthesizing (sp?), but I really don't know where to begin.

    I found a guide here http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wi...ynthesis_Guide

And it appears great for detailed information, but I really need something simpler to start with. I understand that I need to choose just 3 classes to level, but I have no idea how to go about choosing those classes. The adventuring classes I have are all DoM classes, if that helps. I have all my DoH and DoL classes to 50+ as well.

Any guidance to get me on my way would be appreciated!

It depends i guess on what you need out of it i would say.
Myself i am focusing on Alchemist and Goldsmith more but have desynthed on culinarian as well.
Culinarian for instance is the only one you get items needed to craft those Beach looking skirts i believe?
Sorry not more help as crafting/desynth has never been my main focus.

I went with Weaver, Leatherwoker, and Goldsmithing myself, mainly cause I seem to get a ton of those items most of the time (main summoner/sch). I've been treating desyth more as a way to just get a ton of extra materials / crystals so far though.

I know an all 60 crafter who did 80 points in everything, for some reason or another. I do know if you ever change your mind, you can reset them back to 1 point if you wanted to respend them elsewhere.

There are skill reset books an alchemist can craft.

I would suggest not overthinking it, just desynth all the stuff you hoarded as a way to save space and hopefully get some nice materials out of it.

I have almost capped CUL desynth mainly because the vast amount of fish I gather, currently half way towards capping BSM and the final one I am choosing to make desynth class will probably be GSM though I haven't started leveling desynth on that yet. There is no best option or class to pick though in the long term as with different patches and content updates the better options switch around a lot so I say pick whichever you want and somewhere down the line it will probably be a good option from time to time between new patches regardless of which pick.

I haven't gotten very far into desynthing yet. I choose LTW and GSM because a post from a long time ago listed those two as good sources of demimateria. (But as others have pointed out, which classes are good keeps changing from patch to patch, so that's probably not even accurate anymore.) As my third, I picked CUL simply because there are so many fish that have no other use besides desynth, and I like to have a use for everything I gather.

If you still cant make up your mind, look at the sorts of equipment your most used classes get from dungeons/trials. The items you have the choice to Need roll to attain. You will have a better chance to get these types then the rest, so you can always focus your desynth in that direction. It might not always be optimal, but it does give you an outlet for excess gear(either that youve outgrown or gotten in the field).

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-Endgame-Guide There is this which I've followed and tried to help with recently, but unfortunately it's a little outdated post-ARR. In particular, 3.1 made levelling Desynthesis skills easier such that for 0-50% Success Rate, you get +1% per level, 50-70% is +2% per level, and 70-100% is +1.5% per level. Another very important thing to note is about the two items Bacon Broth (Level 50 Culinarian recipe) and Tinker's Calm (Level 50 Alchemist recipe) that temporarily increase your desynthesis success rate at +2.5% per Careful Desynthesis point. Other important notes are that an item being NQ or HQ does not matter, but any type of materia melded to the item increases success rate by 5% each, and an item being HQ increases melding success rate by, I think, 10%.

If you just want the most useful Desynthesis skills, then you have to go with at least Goldsmith. Your class levels have no effect whatsoever on Desynthesis skill levels, and all battle accessories are Goldsmith-based. Leatherworker would be the second-most useful one to me because plenty of gear is leather in addition to, I think, all Disciple of the Land accessories being leather. The third choice is up to you. Even though technically Weaver or Armorer would be "best" to cover more types of gear, it doesn't matter that much. I went with Blacksmith because I enjoy being able to do something with many of the Primal weapons. I would not recommend Alchemist or Carpenter, but they have their uses once in a while for some Primal weapons now and could possibly be useful in the future. Culinarian can yield rare swimsuits from fish at level 50.

Also I have to warn you, the devs have seemed to mostly forget about Desynthesis since the beginning of Heavensward. It's been almost useless at max level for the entire expansion except at the beginning when the various Nuggets, Ingots, and other crafting materials were much less commonplace due to people still levelling. I'm hoping everything will change in 3.3. We recently discovered Grade V materia can come from rare fish, so maybe it'll become easier to acquire through Desynthesis of battle items. For examples, you can look at a post I made when I was logging my skill gain and item yield after they rose the level cap and the proof of Grade V materia from fish:
