More than that, Yda and Y'shtola mentioned they actually rode on it to infiltrate Castrum Centri as part of the mission to rescue Minfilia from Imperial custody. Also part of Castrum Meridanium features the Phantom Train's Depot, but again the actual train itself is never seen, although judging by the gauge (distance between the rails), it's huge (not to mention uncomfortable, judging by Yda saying "no one would be caught dead in it!"

The Order of the Twin Adder also successful blockaded it during Operation Archon to stop Castrum Centri from using it to send reinforcements to Castrum Meridanium - presumably they just blocked the track with rubble, enough to ensure that train wasn't going anywhere.

It should be noted that the 'phantom' in it's name is not to be taken literally in that it's not a real 'ghost train' inso much as it's a secret railway run by the Garleans (aka, the military term 'ghost' to refer to anything that is clandistine and secretive). But I digress.

It was also mentioned that the weapons kept in the sealed shrine were remnants of the battle waged between the heroes of that time period against Enuo himself, left there after his defeat.

So he never actually appeared in the earlier versions, but he was definitely in the history and lore of the game.

EDIT: From FFWiki: "Enuo (エヌオー, Enuō?) is an unseen character in Final Fantasy V, who appears as a non-playable character and superboss in Final Fantasy V Advance, and the Android and iOS releases." Unseen (but mentioned) in V, superboss in V Advance.
Ah, I see, thanks for that info - it's been ages since I last played FFV (and that was the PS1 release of the SNES version), so I couldn't remember it exactly. Thank you again.

Not sure why, but I kind of miss these guys. I think the default name is poultergeist:

They always hung around those spires in XI or spire inspired fortresses. Though I'd wonder if it's a lore thing.

I hated their attack noise they made, especially when you where fresh from valkurm dunes, trying to get to Qufim Isle and these guys where chasing you going "EH EH" in a weird voice through the caves..

But keeping it ffxi themed here I'd love to see a comeback for the infamous Absolute Virtue, seeing as they made Kirin (well the Manticore )and especially Adamantoise here a joke. I mean he's like a level 17 normal mob here.
AV practically unbeatable along with pandemonium warden.
