What does it mean when it says my 30 day free play period is ending soon. I already paid 50 bucks for the game i don't understand why I have to pay more to actually play the game

I wish i had a better answer for you, but that's just the way most MMO's work. When you initially buy the game it comes with a free 30 day subscription. It kindasaves you a bit of money in that sense.
Think of it like subscribing to a magazine. You can't enjoy the content unless you pay the monthly fee.
And that 50 you spent on the game itself is normal. Its what you would spend on any other video game.
Tough love time; you could choose the cheapest subscription plan, but you don't wanna pay then dont play.
That's why this kind of MMO's payment is called a subscription. You pay $15 per month to play or ~$12-13 if you pay for 6 or 3 months. This used to be the standard for MMOs for many years. It's only recently, in the past few years, that the concept of free-to-play or buy-to-play became a common thing.
I think subscription-based MMOs are actually in a very tiny minority now, which is crazy to me, but I grew up in a different time. I can understand why it now seemingly makes no sense.
Welcome to Eorzea!
Basically FFXIV requires a regular subscription to play, you're not actually paying for the game itself but rather the servers that you play on with thousands of others from around the world. These servers and the infrastructure and staff that are required to maintain them, are not cheap. Subscriptions are really the fairest means of keeping the game running while paying it's bills (as well as making an income to the developers who made it).
Think of it the same way you do using a phone - buying a phone may only require a once-only payment, but to actually use it you require a subscription to access it's service - the game's subscription is exactly the same.![]()
Most games these days charge you past the initial sale for more content too.
It's called DLC and micro transactions.
so if a buy a digital code for the game time card from amazonI wish i had a better answer for you, but that's just the way most MMO's work. When you initially buy the game it comes with a free 30 day subscription. It kindasaves you a bit of money in that sense.

will it work on ps3
It should, though I dont play on PS3 so i cant personally say it does. The intention of the game time card is that it adds ___ days to your account. General word of warning, make sure you buy those codes from reputable people. Each code can only be used once, so a "used" one would be basically worthless. Back to your question though, get a time code from amazon(or even gamestop/walmart if theres one in your area that carries them), go to the mog station website(theres a link there from the "lodestone" page linked to at the top of this one), log in to your account, and there should be a button or link on that page to add the code from your time card. Then you enter the code, and youre set to play.
Yes, game time is associated with the account across all platforms.
While the game time code itself will work with any account type, please know that all account types are separate. You can't play on your PS3 account on PC, nor vice-versa. Even PC and Steam accounts are separate types.

Well, generally, people who play on multiple platforms do so from the same account. If you have PS3, PS4 and PC copies of the game all registered to the same account, then adding game time adds it for all of them, since it's the account as a whole you're adding that time to. The only case where it's just for one would be if you have a separate account for each of them. While the game time code itself will work with any account type, please know that all account types are separate. You can't play on your PS3 account on PC, nor vice-versa. Even PC and Steam accounts are separate types. This also means that only your selected account gets the game time, not all of them.
