Options for class changes

Dear Developers,

I am feeling a little stuck between a rock and a hard place, as I want to have many classes however want to have a different looking character specific to that class. I am wondering if it would be possible to add that when changing classes that we also be able to have a set appearance assigned to it. For instance I want my bard to be Elezen, however want my White mage human, black mage lalafel etc. Currently the only way to do this is to create a whole new character. This also means forgoing the leveling bonus offered by leveling classes on the same character (and also having to play through the MSQ).

Would you be able to look into my suggestion please?

That goes completely against the very structure of the game though - the FF series has always had as a major innovation the ability to change your character's class (usually through variations on what is known as the Job System). Thus the FF MMORPGs (FFXI and FFXIV) both utilize this important gameplay aspect of the FF series - this is not like other MMOs where your character's class is static and becomes their personality. Here the Armoury System is virtually analogous to real life, where for example, you pick up a hammer and saw, you're now working in carpentry, but pick up a bow and arrow, and you're now using archery etc. The whole 'class' term was a misnomer really.

Making your character static to it's class will never happen because that violates one of the main advertised features of this game, the ability to change your class at will on the one character at any time you feel like I'm sorry to say.

I think your request is too far out and that you don't understand or appreciate the Job Change/Armoury System. Just roll new characters.

It's definitely something I'd love to see, I've mentioned this in other threads, but the MMO Firefall (a free to play game no less) allows every character to be every class as well. But in that game you also have the option of completely changing your character, face, hair style, hair color, skin color, voice, ornament, tattoos, and even your characters gender anytime, anywhere, whenever you want, as much as you want, for free. That's definitely something this game needs and should be standard issue in every MMO as far as I'm concerned.

Now obviously this would never happen as SE would rather monetize the race changes, but if it were up to me, I'd have the same system in place as Firefall and allow race changes as well. In Firefall I had a completely different appearance I used for each of the game's classes, all of which were on one character. If SE gave us that along with the ability to change our class/job anywhere and at anytime? That would be awesome.

But it would still be like you were playing as a different person, rather than the same person being multi-faceted... it makes no sense whatsoever in the setting, lore, or RP aspects of the game. I think it's a bad idea... Actually, I think it's the second worst idea I've read tonight, next to adding a cost to vote-kicking someone. That idea is even worse. But, not by that much.

I don't really think it matters since our race and gender choices don't have any meaningful impact on the game at all. It's not an MMO like swtor where if you're a certain race NPC's will makes comments about it or how certain dialogue options are only available to females or males depending. I do enjoy visual customization and I personally think it's a fantastic suggestion so we'll have to agree to disagree.
