In the 50+ dungeons, you sometimes see tradable loot. Some of them drop crafting mats that arent easy to get elsewhere. And most of the 50-60 dungeons have a minion drop that can be sold. The gear itself cant really be sold, but if you have time and wanna put in some work money can potentially be made there too. If youve leveled a crafting class or two, you can do a quest to learn how to break gear down to some of its component mats - most are sellable. And nothing is stopping you from spirit binding and converting to materia every piece of extra gear you get(though it would be a big time commitment). There might even be a few items sold by your grand company for seals that you can turn around and sell(expert delivery is a good source of seals if your rank is high enough to have it).
There is some dungeon loot that can be sold. There are even a few pieces of dungeon gear that are tradeable (although it's rare and they're generally not the best gear the dungeon can give). But for the most part, equippable gear that you get from dungeons is intended to be wearable only by the player who ran the dungeon, not by whoever had enough gil to buy it off of them. And as Frizze pointed out, there are other ways of getting something useful from extras.
I suspect the intention is for you to be able to get meaningful equipment upgrades by doing the dungeons rather than the market board being the easiest way to upgrade everything every time you level up.
If every dungeon drop was tradeable, few would run the dungeon.
you can still trade it in for seals then purchase cordials or coke or something an make a profit off of it though
or can be desynthed in many cases
This is how WoW, FFXIV, and every MMORPG like WoW does things. In my opinion, the point is so that someone can't just buy their way through the game but instead has to actually play it if they want gear. The only downside is, yeah, I know it sucks to not be able to sell your old gear, but I think overall it's for the best. It is also a shame you can't live out any "treasure hunter" fantasies in WoW-like MMORPGs, but you'd have to find an old-style MMO for that nowadays.
