Are Kupo Nuts inebriating drugs? Are they addictive?

I've been wondering whether Kupo Nuts get moogles high (like inebriating drugs do). This is a theory I've seen elsewhere, in an attempt to explain why they get lost so often.

I don't mean to cast aspersions on the moogles; unlike many, I loved the moogle quests and find Moghome's residents utterly charming.

What happens when nonmoogles eat kupo nuts? Do we have precedent for that?

No no, it's the SLYPHS who are Potheads, not the moogles.

Yeah, it's made clear that the tempered sylphs are also high as airships on milkroot (something the 'good' sylphs of Little Solace hate, regarding it as a curse on their society) - kupo nuts however just seem to be a tasty food that the moogles like, it's their traditional signature food throughout the FF series after all, like chocobos and gysahl greens.

At least this time around kupo nuts are properly translated, in FFXIV 1.0 they were called 'pearl clover fruit' for some reason. But I digress.

The Beast Tribe quests make it pretty clear the tempered sylphs aren't the only ones trippin' balls. One such quest has you slap some sense into a few milkroot-addled good sylphs, and another has you actually FARM the stuff for the quest-giver, with the ending text making it pretty clear the quest-giver plans to partake.

That's not to say that the good sylphs can't consider it a curse, but it's a curse across the board, not just one affecting the tempered!

I think kupo nuts to a moogle are like a chocolate bar to a chocoholic. Doesn't get you high, but you feel happy when you're eating one.

They give you a buzz, but only when consumed in large quantities (a full stomach's worth).

Phoenix Down, however, is not only encouraging many dangerous practices to partake in its resurrecting properties, it is highly addictive.

Kupo nuts contain potent amounts of kupo, and invoke strong feelings of kupo when eaten. Side effects include kupo, kupo, and kupo. Please kupo responsibly, kupo!

Yes, they do get high off them, it's like their catnip.
