I'm pretty sure those are solo only and nothing like what SE is talking about.
I think it is a stretch calling those combos, when I played I thought they were simple unlocked abilities. You did this move, so now you can use this move. FFXIV already has that.
This system (if I'm reading it right) is a combo system which can be used solo or more importantly in a party with other people to string attacks together, even using directional cues to influence it, for some kind of greater effect.
It sounds very good I think, if it is done right.

You do Featherfoot ---> Simian Thrash and you can add more too it. Using the name combo for the system really confused me because that how it work in Aion. You had to do A attack to unlock B --> To unlock C and you did big DMG. Where in FFXIV is more like FFXI you do A--> B ---> C do big DMG and a nice big beautiful effects like FFXI skillchain.
It sound like a great idea let's see if they do it right.

I also played Aion, so I know the Combos, and I think It would really spice this game up.
I really like this whole Idea of "Combos" and "Finishing Moves" It reminds me a lot of the Tales of Series where you can link Artes to make Combos and Mystic Artes or Combination Moves using the Over-limit bar as your Trump Card.
I personally think It would also be really cool If there was something like Over-limit bar in XIV, but I know I'm hoping too much :P
EDIT: I wonder what's happening with Battle Regimen now, and how it will turn out 0.0 maybe like XI Skillchain? Bonus effect when Chaining certain Combos with each other?
I will not say the current combo in FFXIV is the same as Aion
You do Featherfoot to boost your evasion to have a miss in order to beable to use Simian Trash, this is a tactic not a combo, because you simply can use Simian Trash whenever you evade the hit and have 1,5k TP
Aion Combo Might sound like unlocked but it is only half right because this is a mmo and not reality if you compare in this way:
Aion: Left swing -> right swing -> Smash down (chance for knock down) -> knock down -> Finish Move -> end of combo
Combat game: left punch -> right punch -> mid kick (target dizzy if hit) -> dizzy -> Finish move -> end of combo
in FFXIV the LNC skill with the long animation with multi thrust is just like the Aion skill from Left swing to Finish move but in 1 button while at aion, they seperate that to 4 click and 1 requirement and make it look like it s unlock
feel free to keep disscuing, this thread is interressting
ninja edit: if we talk about battle reg it ll be different because battle reg is party combo, while Yoshi mention is solo combo, those 2 cant be call alike or can bring out to compare
Ya i know i was not 100% right just saying it sound like that but it more like ffxi skillchain if anything.I will not say the current combo in FFXIV is the same as Aion

Hi All,taken from http://rainyautumnskies.wordpress.co...naoki-yoshida/
Maybe you heard of the word « hissatsu waza » (Coup de Grâce, Finishing Move), like in the Japanese mangas, that’s something we’re thinking about. Something you can use once in very special occasions.
Yah I'm really excited the new Combo System / Skillchain / Battle Regimen 2.0 System that's coming.![]()
More use of battlefield positions, activating certain skills at each position, and then having that Hissatsu Waza (Finishing Move) like having Cloud (Final Fantasy VII)'s OMNISLASH Limit Break would be awesome!![]()
It certainly beats what we have now and adds more fun to the game.
I can't wait!![]()
something that easy to execute but hard to master(and FUN!!!)...I hope that kind of combo system here...
Aion Zwei - Masamune
Vindictus has combos and finishing moves too..
I can't say I fully understand what Yoshi was talking about but it does sound very interesting. I can't wait to try it out ^^
