Fretting over appearances...

Hey all! First time poster here.

A thought entered my mind today: Do you ever find yourself obsessively changing your character's appearance? I sure do. In fact, I spent the better portion of today doing that exact thing. I even Fantasia'd my character to a completely different race.

What about you guys: Is the aesthetician your best friend? Have you spent way more than you would have liked on Fantasia potions?

I have only used the free fantasias I got to change my character just because I was tired of looking at them taking space in my inventory then immediately changed my character back. My character is as close as I could possibly get to my beloved Elvaan character from way back in the days of FFXI, playing this game as any of the other races or changing any aspect of the appearance just never feels right and I just can't bring myself to deviate from it.

However, if this game was like other MMO's (one class per character) I would have made it a point to never re-use any race/gender combo. This character would be paladin, I would make a female roe warrior, a highlander male mnk, miqote male brd, au ra male nin, etc.

Edit: I did change my character's hair once, a friend of mine wanted the eternal bond items and offered to pay for the whole thing. Since she spent 40 dollars on it I figured the least I could do was use the hairstyle until we finished the ceremony and got our chocobos. Once that was done I changed it right back.

When I first started I spent maybe an hour in Character Customization.........
and then when I got my free Fantasia I spent another maybe 30 min just tweaking stuff.... and that was it.

Though every like half year I change my hairstyle then spend about a few months worrying about it so

I'm pretty satisfied with my character's appearance (now) but I do find myself wanting to be a Hyur or maybe even a Raen, but I'm not fully committed to changing just yet. I have used fantasia just to make such minor changes like being one shade lighter/ darker. If I am not completely satisfied with a characteristic it will bother me to no end until I can change it. Which is why I always take my time in the CC and make a temp alt just to test try a race/face change.

Otherwise, I do change hairstyles at least on a weekly basis. Since I have all jobs (excluding tanks) leveled up I have the luxury of having different glamour option per role. Even then I fine myself changing at least one role's glamour 1-2x a week.

I think about changing back to Mi'qote every now and then, and I poke around CC often, but in the end I am happy with the way my character looks and would end up missing him. When I was a catboy, I changed hair occasionally, and I still do now, but like before that was it. Fantasias are not my choice of money sink (only used the free ones, with one left), but to each their own. :P

I have a friend who fanta's twice a week every week :| or just about that much. I have another that changes their character name that much as well XD can get confusing

Yep, but that's more due to a lack of options though, not because there's many. If Squeenix would've made it so ANY race can be bald/balding and have Santa Claus or Ming The Merciless-style beards, I'd have only needed to create this guy once.

I haven't bought a fantasia in a week! In all seriousness though, I really being a highlander and I love this hairstyle. It's like I have two hairstyles, I got a sporty ponytail or Lucia in a hat. I want Lucia's hair.

At this point the damn game needs to acknowledge my pickiness and give me free fantasias.

Joking aside, yeah. I tend to change way too much.

I just want my miqo'tes skin color options for my female au ra; for some reason the au ra's don't seem to have at least one normal skin tone. It's either too orange-y or gray-ish to me

I'm notorious in my FC for fantasias. I wish there was a, you bought 20 fantasias have one on us, thing. That'd be amazing >.>
But yes, I constantly change races out of boredom than anything else.
