Actually, you can. I place her all over the place whenever necessary. King Thordan EX to avoid knockbacks and Sephirot EX to avoid getting killed, for example. Having a fairy placed is always better than to have her on heel. A fairy on heel will prioritize movement over casting. Try placing your fairy far away, have her on heel and try and have her cast Embrace on you while on the way back to you. You'll notice she's completely unresponsive till she's by your side. When she's on heel, she'll only "check" your current position every couple of seconds. When she moves from point A to B, she won't be responsive to any command, even if it's only 2-3 steps. Meaning that after every embrace, she'll move again till she's at your previously registered position. She won't cast another embrace till she reaches that point. If you can't generate enough distance to convince yourself, try it inside a building where she has to move away from you and make a U-turn around a wall after commanding heel instead.
