Healer report: Aurum Vale

I will have to make a couple posts due to limit. Sorry.

Would any of you agree that this dungeon is a nice test for healers? My FC sure says so, and have told me about it since unlocking WHM and SCH. Looking up the guides also seems to confirm. There's not much reason to come here other than for the challenge, and I wanted it. I went as WHM. Don't get me wrong, I will always consider SCH a healer, but I needed this to be entirely on me w/o fairy help.

One FC mate came along to tank, DPS were pickups, one a mentor. I said it was my first run and /smiled as usual. The Locksmith went fairly well. Our tank did KO, but I had to let him in order to eat fruit to prevent myself from dying. Immediate rezz and win. Then the jinx was casted by someone mentioning that the hardest part of the dungeon was over.

Next pull was too much and we wiped. Mate tank totally apologized and the mentor advised to pull to a safe place to engage. This worked extremely well.

Next boss went ok but I died trying to get off Holy before 1000 ton swing (decided to take a risk), at which point the other DPS said, "OMG can you not die." And there it was. My insecurity as a healer setting in. That was until my mate and the mentor jumped on his ass, and defended me. "Gemina, just say the word and we'll kick this fool."

I shook my head and simply said, "Let's kill more weeds!" Rest of the dungeon went smooth as silk, and last boss was not a problem at all. I got comms from both DPS players surprisingly, and the aetherial book of Mythril, which is pretty much the best pre-50 book you can have.

I know I passed this test, but it wasn't really the dungeon, it was that jerk DPS who had to open his mouth on what was a pretty successful run my first time through. It really took a lot to not let that get to me, and if was not for my FC buddy and mentor, I likely would have considered this run a failure despite success.

Sorry, I was trying t o imply that if you get blemed and things are too chaotic and too many things are pulled, that it isnt your fault at all. For a tip on the first boss, use regen on party members, itll help ease the stacks that cause degeneratve hp loss, on coincounter...use regen. even if you get hit by the lightning glare, itll ease your time until you can be stable and heal agai[USE ESUNA for paralysis]n.(if youre fast enough you can esuna paralysis off of you) Third boss just a bigger version of the first, holy will decimate her bud adds. You do not want them to spawn, every time they auto attack anyone they add yet another stack of burn on that person and after 3 or 4 stacks with no fruit, its instant death,.

ADVSS, please don't take my post like it isn't a test for all who go there. I made the post in the healer's forum to target healer's specifically in this instance. I really don't know any other role as it is my first time through the game. I apologize if I came off offensive in any way.

I do agree that the Aurum Vale is kind of a healing challenge for a not veteran healer XD
Especially for a young whm (the dungeon is a lot easier as scholar)

This is a lot harder for a whm because it's the slowest healer, with no "Oh Shit" button and no DPS window or risky one.

If you're beginning I would advise to not DPS at all.
Healer DPS is only for veteran healer who are confortable with their healing power and timing even of they got squishy tank (or idiotic war)
Since there is a looooot of poison and heavy hit on this dungeon you need to prepare heal and cleansing at EVERY step.

The first boss is check your friend and keep regen up while pampering your tank
The second boss is look out for the eyes and be prepared to rez/esuna if necessary (and stay as far as possible)
Last one is the same as the first one, with less heavy hit but more DoTs from the boss (check the fruit, heal accordingly and prepare one holy for the eggs)

This dungeon is really easy when you know all step and dangerous hit

I was terrified as Blm or whm, i love it as smn/SCH

The thing is be careful, watch out for your mana do nooooooot panic, one dead is fine just plan your healing carefuly

Don't use Holy on a single target, it's a huge waste of MP and gets you in the range of all kinds of attacks squishy mages better stay away from
If you were trying to get the stun in - keep in mind that while that monster has a cast time for the skill you want to interrupt, you have it too. He's already casting, you need to move first and then cast too. Who's more likely to finish first?
So if you know that attack will kill someone if uninterrupted - so be it. Just make sure it is never you. If the tank dies, he can be ressed. If a dps dies, he can be ressed.
If the healer dies, that tends to be the end of the fight, so stay out of trouble

Second boss in aurum is a good test to see who's paying attention. imo it is the first boss in the game that it really helps to have focus targeted, specially as healer. every single move can be dodged if you're paying attention, except the autos on the tank. No-one else needs to take any damage at all. I like to enter the fight with stoneskin on everyone and see who still has theirs at the end

also one of the first examples where dps shouldn't just spam all their moves for moar dps, holding stuns for the swing

Maybe it's a good healing test, but it's not a good test for your job. SCH lacks lustrate, which is honestly your second most used healing spell in battle, behind embrace. Adlo is used more outside of battle or if the tank is taking more damage than a single lustrate + embrace can handle.

Aurum vale, is somewhat of a cluster. The tank pulling too many and not positioning them for optimal aoe, along with bad dps not using aoe, can make your life harder than it has to be.

I didn't go in as SCH. I went as WHM. Tackling a new instance is far more challenging for me as WHM. I can read about the mechanics all day and night (actually kind of do lol), but it is a different story when actually in it.

The only goal I had going into this dungeon was to come out a better WHM than I was going in.
