It would be nice, sure, but then I'd have nothing to even use my retainer inventories for since there are very few crafting mats that are actually worth saving.

The dungeon UI on WoW as of Warlords looks almost a carbon copy of how it is on XIV down to the objective list and everything (though XIV could easily have taken influence from something else like GW2 for this, I dunno, I only play XIV and WoW myself) that's honestly the only thing I can really think of, though

The draenor legendary quest seemed a carbon copy of the 2.0 relic quest, I think. It's been awhile but I heard something like that.

We really do, because then we wouldn't have to be spending real money for retainers. I wish I didn't have use retainers for glamour reasons.

This is the answer right here. They are getting money for it so why give it away for free? While I don't personally rent out retainers, I know more than half the people I associate with do, with some doing the max amount. SE is not going to budge an inch unless they see sales from retainers drive down while complaint of default inventory space goes up.

Basically character data is backed up every 15 seconds and if they added extra storage space and a glamour catalog it would make backing up that much more data difficult in that time frame and the devs are reluctant to push back the back to every 30 seconds for example. I think retainer data is only accessed and saved when we are using them.

I think one solution would to use something like a retainer as the glamour catalog. It would only be accessible though a summoning bell (or similar access point) and you would cast glamours through this. Using this glamour "retainer", the glamour catalog would not need to be constantly backed up as part of the character data, only when it is accessed.

I don't see the big harm in a way if they would push the save time back a little bit, the servers seem stable enough to not worry about a server crash, least I can't recall one in the time I've played since Closed Beta. Don't get me wrong I have very little knowledge so I could be under thinking the process but it kinda goes into hand of "If it can go wrong, it will". My luck is I would DC or Crash in the process of making that item from expensive mats than actually HQing it then crashing causing it to be gone after. Unless someone can explain it a bit better? If it ment more space I'd be for it.

While I wouldn't mind a glamour book option of sorts, hoarding all your items for glamours isn't a necessity by any means. You may make it a priority, but that's on you.

I feel like you'd have to be at least a bit disingenuous to say that glamour isn't causing issues with inventory space. I've recently discarded all 4-man gear I was holding for glamours, but even then I'm constantly struggling with inventory space while holding onto stuff from coil/alex/eso/lore/primals that would be a bit more time consuming to go back and farm again for a glamour I want to use.

Glamour books are pretty much standard and default now in games, ffxiv is lacking in many ways, this being one. Definitely would improve the game se, mind you I dont expect it with the current "limitations" excuse for most suggestions.

They seem heavily reluctant to do anything at all to solve any of the inventory problems, or at least are very horrible at communicating progress on what they ARE doing involving inventory issues. We get one or two snippets on a blue moon and that is it.

That's because anytime they do share information on what they're trying, people take it as Word of God that it's absolutely 100% going to happen that way and if things change during the development process, whether that be because they found something they like better or the original idea is more difficult to implement than they thought it would be or another reason entirely, people will still dig up those old quotes years down the line and stick them in their sigs as proof of how untrustworthy they are and whatnot. I really can't say that I blame them for keeping quiet. :3
