Except, they are not. Want a most obvious example? Cheating. Sure, the cheater might have reached a certain rating with his setup, but is he truly as skilled as the other players at that same rating that do not cheat? No. You however would say they are equal because they reached the same rating 'doing what they do'. And I will agree that their effectivity might indeed be similar. However, the rating has little to do with skill in this case - it is diluted.

And this goes for every little thing that is different between two players that is not personal skill, no matter how small the effect. Period. So no, two people at the same rating are most likely as good as never actually equally skilled. They just bring similar performance. To you, that is no issue. Great. Then surely it's no issue at all to let hackers run rampant. Right? Or do you want to re-think that logic?

Also, you did not state DRK at all. Furthermore, I simply disagree with your assessment that the jobs are balanced enough to be comparable, even if we ignore the 3/13 available jobs that are "exceptions" by your own admittance. If you have hard data to prove me wrong, feel free to post them and I'll concede. As it is, though, both of our gut feelings are as good as any.
