Question about Recruit a Friend Campaign

So I just got a friend to join FFXIV jumping from WoW and they registered their account and are now playing on same server, just started today, so I went to do the recruit a friend thing and it says they have to register after following link in email, but what if they already registered? I'm just wanting to find out before I send the recruit a friend link to their email. Also, they are still on the trial, but said they are going to buy the game because they already like it better than WoW in its current state, though I don't see how that's possible to know this early in game, but their words, not mine, but the recruit a friend thing sounds great to both of us.

But even to start the trial you have to register a service account, and the recruitment thing says this: "Enter a friend's e-mail address below, along with a brief message.
Your friend will receive an e-mail containing a recruitment code.
The invitation process is completed once your friend registers a service account using the recruitment code."

That is what's confusing me. I know to continue getting recruitment benefits, your friend has to stay subbed a certain number of days, but the initial entry thing only says registering an account as a requirement, but they already did that in order to start the trial. And as far as I know registering a 2nd account after you already registered was never a thing. Or are you saying that this can be done even if they already registered?

After making an account, they have to buy the game register the key they get from the game, then use the recruit a friend code.

A lot of false information here. First, a new player may add a referrer's code until the day their subscription takes effect. One of mine literally added the code two days before they were charged for their first month. Secondly all the person who is being referred needs to do is enter your code on the mogstation. You may obtain the code and manually give it to them by emailing a code to yourself.

Then, it will show in your mogstation once a friend has used one of your codes as well. They have to register the code before they pay the first months sub, but you dont get the items i believe till after the first paid month. not sure on that 100% tho

I haven't found anything specifically mentioning the trial. Let us know if it works. If it doesn't, just have them enter your code after they register the game key.
