Harrassement would still be punished, people already kick based on DPS, toxic people (with parser or not) would still be toxic.

On the other hand, people who want to improve would be able to do so with this tool. How can this be bad ? Especially when you see people abandoning 24 duties because an alliance completly fails every dps check.

Whilst I appreciate your views, that's a rather extremely thin skinned approach to take to allow one bad experience to sour an entire aspect of the game. I'll be amazed if you've not had an awful Rabanastre or Bardam's run yet, do you avoid those places as well?

MMOs are as much about the community as they are the game and sadly sometimes you just have to take the rough with the smooth. There are bad eggs in all aspects of the game, being able to deal with them and brush them off is an important skill to learn imho!

Just make aggro bar the parser... not sure how well that would work but it's worth trying...

You only get your full rotation at level 70 (on most jobs at least) so you can't really practice your opener and basic rotation before that. And for that we already have a tool available for everyone: SSS dolls. Those are great for learning and testing your basic rotation, and then you'll have to adjust that rotation for each fight specifically while you're learning those fights anyway.

DPS doesn't really matter in any story content (there are exceptions, of course), and it's content meant for absolutely everyone. No one should need a parser to learn their job well enough to get through an expert dungeon or story primal (yes there are some really bad players out there, but they can be given advice even without using a parser, since it's not hard to see if someone isn't using their abilities).

Savage, extremes and Ultimate are a different thing because of their tight DPS checks: in those fight you need to know if you and your team members are doing good enough to be able to beat the fight in the first place. That's why parser is absolutely needed for those. I still think it should be added as an optimal feature though, so people can still organise parties without running one if they so wish.

Didn't YoshiP try to walk out last time he was asked about this? Seems like a pretty clear no to me. Beside SSS is already in game and can be use to improve your rotations/DPS by trying to clear them faster.

Yes. I always feel blind while trying to play DPS in a group because I have no idea if I'm carrying my weight or not when it comes to actual DPS (for stuff like raises and utility it's much easier to tell). SSS is not a real replacement since it doesn't simulate mechanics, doesn't let you compare very well, doesn't do anything during levelling (when you should be learning), and you have to go out of your way to do it.

SSS does tell you if you can handle your basic rotation well enough in a dummy fight. It doesn't however do anything to help you adjusting your rotation to a specific fight, party buffs and so on. Changing your rotation to do better on a SSS dummy may even make you do worse in an actual fight. It also doesn't tell you how well you can keep your DPS rotation up while handling mechanics.

What about skills that reduce agro? Wouldnt this only make it look like those players are doing less damage?

People use it that way right now, and that's exactly the problem. Someone who uses Diversion and Lucid Dreaming looks far lower than the guy riding within 2% of the tank, no matter which one is really doing more DPS.

The stuff that reduce aggro(healers and DPS) would need to buff damage output and overall healing, and stuff that increases aggro way more(tanks) would need to increase DPS output, mitigation, and overall healing received... again not sure how this well this would work but it's an idea...
