But you do intend to clear content right? So even if you have gear, doesn't mean you are capable to hit reach the dps your class is capable of or even close to it. I can't count how many players have 340 ilvl and can't do more dps than I did at 320. It's not about e-peen, it's about doing the shit you are supposed to do. Imagine everyone had your attitude in EVERY group you are in, good luck clearing then. First you admit you are willing to ignore others now you open admit again it's fine to ignore people again.

I don't get the impression people are asking for parsers in casual and semicasual content like Dungeons or 24mans where the benefits would be low or a parser itself wouldn't be more like e-peen stroking.

But you can't neglect the benefits in progression of Extreme Trials, Savage and Ultimate and not only in progression, also in kill parties and farms.

If you don't want to participate in the higher content don't try to demonize a proper tool for people who do by highlighting possible drawbacks and negative sideeffects and mix it up with your own fears while ignoring all possible positive sideeffects and the intended use.

Also, if you don't want to participate in the higher content, this discussion doesn't concern you in the first place, since people are only asking it for Savage, Extremes and Ultimate... So why object it when you will never have to deal with it, and it can actually help people who do wish to do that content? (If I have missed posts where people are asking it for leveling or casual content without enrages, feel free to point them out to me though.)

You need more than just mechanical knowledge and up-to-date gear to clear a fight.

Take a ShinEx group I was in last week. A MNK in full 320 crafted (non-melded) was doing more damage with two deaths than a MCH that massively outgeared him (330-340 gear in every slot with some melds) with no deaths. For all the MCH’s big talk, he could barely break 3k DPS; the MNK with 2 deaths was still 600 DPS ahead of him, and was pulling 4,000~4,200 DPS on pulls where they weren’t killed due to healer negligence. We saw the second Tidal Wave in phase one with zero deaths because the DPS was that low; I highly doubt we would have made the Tidal Wave enrage, because I’ve been in groups with higher rDPS that just barely made it before the cast finished. So yeah, DPS is important in Extreme/Savage/Ultimate fights, and not just “an e-peen contest”. Don’t try to pretend that it isn’t.

And again, here is another example of someone who considers themselves “anti-parser” being unnecessarily hostile. But the “pro-parser” crowd is the “toxic” crowd.....

It needs to be in all content. You don't learn to dps in end game. You learn to dps then go to end game and learn the fights. Why deny console players what pc players already got?

You have to wonder how this "raiding/raiders/parsers are toxic," rhetoric even propagated. The grand majority of posts I see that say that always end up sounding incredibly hostile or just downright condescending, completely unaware of their own hypocrisy. Even worse is the multiple posts where people say "as long as I do what I deem as necessary, I'll be fine," ignoring the fact that the main basis of this game is teamwork. It is not about you.

In general people should figure out a decent rotation while leveling and practice on a dummy to learn it.

But in leveling is just a low gain out of a parser because of missing skills.
Also in casual content it really isn't needed. I'm running dungeons to get into the jobs flows in duties so i wouldn't want to be judged by my performance in a job i haven't mastered yet or i play to relax, that's what casual content is for.
In SSS and higher endgame content It is a complete other thing, cause it is a kind of competition.

    1.Go to reddit.
    2. read one of the many endless complaining posts about how bad players are
    3. notice that most of them are about raid level content.
    4. there you go.

And how do you know the rotation is good? How do you know what you melded is good? How will you find out if what you want to meld is better or not? A parser outside of endgame.

Yeah, it isn't needed in leveling content. Hell you can play just fine without one period. But being able to compare yourself and track improvements outside endgame helps you know what you are doing when you do hit end game.

There is an entire thread with over 1300 pages more or less dedicated to complaining about duty finder/party finder/etc. The grand majority of the posts there are just complaints. It's the same thing.

Edit: My point being that people will complain about anything, even those that don't parse. You don't have to go very far into said thread for people to be constantly complaining and whining about player performance regardless of parsers or DPS numbers. The raiding player base and more specifically pro-parsers aren't any more toxic than the average casual player.
