I would rather not, smartphone sure, but not Vita. The Vita has nothing to do with Xiv and I don't think people will be appreciative of having to buy one in order to unlock a game feature of a game for a completely different console.
But you alrdy are at their mercy, 99% of them "elitist" play on the PC useing ACT after all. So giveing us the player a parser will only help us get better. We don't need a party one.
You can play FFXIV on your Vita. That is how much it has to do with FFXIV. Also PS4 and PS Vita are paired and synchronised consoles with remote play support and what not and they have the same operating system. Buying a PS Vita is intended to encourage ppl to buy a PS4 and vise-versa.
The only possible combination of a smartphone parser and a ps4 is with sonys own phones. Sony will never support another companys devices.

Simply at least please add a DPS meter! ^^;
Unrelated, but the remote play app was ported to all android phones some time ago. I use it on my tablet to monitor while I fish (vibration enabled) and Netflix.
I feel if they did do it, they should try to keep it's requirements within the ps4. If we couldn't have it directly in the userinterface, like in miniACT plug ins, I wouldn't mind an external app (outside of ffxiv) that would run in the background, similar to a full ACT, that you would have to switch to, to access.
At first I was satisfied with a personal parser, but now I would really like a group parser.
My dungeon runs of yesterday made me want to have it even more.
Me and 2 friends did 60 roulette and got a new player.
It was her first time in the dungeon, so we pulled slowly and after the first few trash mobs I asked her if she would like advice on the dungeon, and if she would like advice on dragoon game-play (I'm not an expert in DPS so I was not going to explain her a whole rotation, but basic stuff that every dragoon should do)
Since she didn't answer, I told her to at least keep Heavy Thrust up, because it ups your damage. And to use the Pugilist and Maurauder Cross-Class skills instead of gatherers ones.
Her reaction was: Do you have an issue with me? Just heal and let's continue.
I explained her that I don't have an issue, but wanted to help her play better. To which she says that I shouldn't be so serious and that it's just a game. Ok this is true, but you don't play alone, you play with other people, so show respect. I also told her than that I didn't want to carry her if she didn't try at least.
We continue, she's still not using buffs (She only you the Full Thrust Combo), she asks for tips of the dungeon. I told her to use Heavy Thrust before we talk dungeon, since she's already dead weight. Her reply is that I don't know anything about dragoon and how it plays (I have it level 60, and it was my previous main before I went Scholar) and she will not take advice from a Mentor (I'm a mentor, so I know my reaction was maybe harsh and a mentor should not be harsh, but she really got on my nerfs) and that she would only believe she performed poorly if she saw it.
We kicked her from the group cuz she refused to even try. In this situation, a parser would have shown her that by using Heavy Thrust and buffs (and if possible DoT and Chaos Thrust Combo) her damage would go up.
Hmmmm, oh, solved !! read your chat. It gives you all the numbers you need. Duh.
Now, parsers will hurt the community. I'll explain, by using a parser, you single out the weak players. By doing this, you stifle them from being able to learn and advance and get good. EXAMPLE ONLY: Now, some wont let me do Alex because there using a parser or some crap, anyway, they wont let me in. So, now I can't learn. I guess I can go watch a video sure but, if I dont reach, X amount of DPS, i'll be kicked.
I, as many do, learn from first hand experience. We already have ilvl's to gate us, do we need the community policing who gets to do what because a parser told them so?
No.

Yes, yes, all of my YES. I really want SE to add an in-game parser already so I can optimize how I play during encounters, learn from the results with data to back it up, and improve as a player. Not only on an individual level, a whole group can reap the benefits of a parser where players can help each other out and become better at the game. While there may be some players who abuse parsers as an object to inflate their egos and harass those they don't find to be playing to an extreme ideal, such incidents can be dealt with by reporting such offenders and potentially sending them to the GM's gaol. A parser is merely a tool, and in the right hands it can help a lot of players improve and assist one another.
