Maybe one day they'll learn it'll not happen, and we've had SEs answer (albeit a crappy one) to it already. Though I don't see this day for another 3-4 expansions

I'd like an official parser, but it won't happen because of the fear of abusing it, despite other features in the game are already abused without much trouble. Nothing else to say really.

Actually, Yoshi P has been wavering on things like this recently, with the talk of addons, they changed it from not wanting parsers, to humouring the idea of how it could be done fairly. So I'd say that threads like these, especially the way this one is set up does indicate the demand. The devs do listen, and do give in if the situation allows them to.

I think a standard personal parser with full pre-made groups having the option to opt-in to a public one would be a fair compromise.

Kinda... PvP already kinda sorta maybe has something similar, wouldn't mind something similar at the end of dungeons/etc. If you lock it to the end of an instance as well, then there's little room for abuse mid-run... Just a wall of shame at the end...

The theorycrafter in me rather desperately wants one, but I feel that the Terms of Service would need to be adjusted so that harassment includes using parse data to berate and target other players. I've seen people use "illegal" parsers to that effect, and it was one of the most souring experiences I've ever had in this game.

A well-programmed parser would not only count personal DPS contribution, but also the DPS contribution by other players that you may have provided through buffs/debuffs, as well as damage mitigated/healed, TP regenerated, damage taken, and MP used/regenerated. Such a parser would be incredibly complex to code, but would be able to provide players with a much clearer picture of their contribution to a given party than just their DPS/damage done.

NO. This game wasnt made for dps parser thing anyways. People will abuse it and harass around. Not cool
